Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2017

@Outofvan
I’m also from Canada (GTA area) applying to Engineering!

Got an email from Guidance Counselor that Cornell called today for first quarter grades. Don’t know whether it is a good thing or not but wondering if this is anyone else’s experience. GC said that my S was the only one of his applicants they asked about, but there are about 6 other GCs.

i sent in my first quarter grades without them askinging. but maybe that means your on the fence and they want to decide whether you should be admitted. hopefully your grades were stellar! best of luck!

@poposa123 i am

Where do we send the first quarter grades?

I hope they don’t ask for my quarter grade… cuz it’s not good haha. Now I pretty much secured all As but my quarter grade is definitely not good.

@MomofNEA: What school did you apply to? I really hope they dont ask for my 1st quarter grades

^^^CHE. And it’s my son. I guess I’m a little old to be here but I need to keep myself from bugging him! Good luck!

^oh no… I applied to CHE also and my quarter grades are horrible. Did any other CHE applicant get asked to submit quarter grades?

1st quarter grades? since my school is semester (2 final grades total for year) but i got really good 1st quarter grades (our school calls them progress reports). Do you think i could send those too becaue they are great but kept falling as i near 1st semester. What sucks is that Dec 13th is friday before week of finals testing which is really BAD/good. I really hope i get in but my chances are about 2%.

Any other CAlifornia Applicants?? dont want to be alone excited or crying. Ill even show up at your house to cry or scream excitedly together (in a not creepy way of course) :)

@sciman, i think becuase your from cali you have a better shot of getting in! they like diversity from all over the country, im from CT so i probably dont have as good of a shot. and
@cornellista27, i applied to CALS but CHE as a second choice for nutrition and I sent my first quarter grades. cornell didnt ask but i figured it was a good idea. I have like a 5% chance of getting in, so it wouldnt hurt. but just ask your guidance counselor to send your scores for you, they know where to send them.
best of luck everyone!!!

You guys that say you only have a 5/2/1% chance of getting in, why?? What are your stats? I just want to compare to mine. :)

Cornellista, maybe they are more sure about you (in a good way). Maybe, as someone above suggested, they are on the fence about my son and need more data. Maybe they won’t even call and ask for yours. My son’s GC could not say that it was necessarily a good thing that they called. So I would not worry. It won’t change anything anyway!

@ kaitlynmills

were just making up random numbers to make ourselves feel worse during this next two weeks waiting for adcceptances. No logic, think of a reverse confidence pep talk lol

Yeah I feel like being asked for the first quarter grades could only be a good thing. If they didn’t want you then they probably wouldn’t bother asking for them (idk) but if they are on the fence or like you and want to make sure you are doing well then they might ask for the grades so they can be certain about their decisions. However, I don’t think it’s a big deal and only a small factor. If you didn’t get asked I wouldn’t worry. I didn’t get asked but that’s because I sent mine in about 2 weeks ago, I really wanted to send them because they were really good in my opinion. Best of luck to everyone!

should we send it our first quarter grades??? my grades will only improve my chances but idk if cornell will consider this superfluous since theyre very against “excess paperwork”

there does it say that cornell “against excess paperwork”. I know that its common sence but i dont think progress reports (1st quarter grades for me) could count for anything

@momofnea thank you sigh you made feel a bit better

@sciman I live in socal. It’s def a relief our results are coming out during school day

I asked my guidance councilor to send in my first quarter grades the day they came out because I really liked them… I’m glad to know that Cornell is still requesting information about people so maybe they didn’t receive those grades and those November SAT 2 scores “too late”

my stats:
4.2 gpa on a 5.0 scale :confused:
sat 2070 :confused:
act 32 (sent sat and act but they said they would only look at the highest, so act it is)
sat math I 740
5 ap classes senior year and 2 junior year
im trying to go in for nutrition at cals and im really hoping my essay and extracurriculars help. also, the fact that nutrition is somewhat of a unique major… hopefully i get in! any thoughts on these stats?
