OFFICIAL CR June 1st (Indian woman, Jane Austin, Rovers, etc)

Did you guys get “digression” for the 2nd paragraph from the space exploration passage? I wasnt sure about that one

i put citizen participation and for the digression i put for the rovers question (if your tlking about that.m.when the author quoted how they made schools for astronauts but not rovers…i think i put show a new perspective. it was btw that and point out an injustice (but i felt that was too strong)

@123bsns, citizen participation

@NWskier, do you remember the question?

@NWSkier I’m pretty sure it wasn’t digression, but I can’t remember what I put. It should be something like “offers an opposing view” or “counterargument” or something similar.

The question (to the best of my memory) was “how would you describe the 2nd paragraph of passage one?” And passage one was the one with the guy advocating human space exploration. I said it was a digression… But that was only because I had eliminated the other choices

wasnt paragraph 2 tlking about them naming schools aftr astronauts and not rovers

If I recall the passage correctly, the first paragraph was something along the lines of “robotic space exploration is more efficient in terms of cost.” He then opened the second paragraph with “BUT why do people remember the date that we landed on the moon, but not any of the dates that the rovers touched down?” He was introducing the argument that human exploration is better because it increases public interest/exploration, so I wouldn’t call that a digression.

Was “to point out an injustice” one of the answer choices? (That’s the wrong answer, I’m just trying to make sure we’re talking about the same question)

Im not sure… Maybe digression was an option from the question about the purpose of the 2nd paragraph in the violin passage? But im pretty sure i chose transition from a general to specific topic. Do you guys remember what question the digression option was from?

i dnt think i put digression for anything. and the second paragraph wasnt at all boasting humans for space exploration he was saying how come only humans are remembered and not rovers. quite the opposite. thats y point out an injustice was an answer cuz it technically was but not literally. so i put offer a different perpective, which it did do and made it the most general pervasive/non extreme answer.

Ok im just going to assume i got that one wrong. What do you guys think will be the score with 3 wrong so -3.75, so basically a 63 out of 67?

What did you guys put for the description of “modern society” it asked for a word

@spazzer4501 which passage are you talking about?

I dont quite remember but it was at the end of the passage and was taking about the arrogance of society

hmmm you would have to help me with what passage it was lol… do you remember which section you got it in or any info about the passage?

Haha sorry I have terrible memory, it was one of the long passages may have been the violin one. But it was talking about how something was a counter to the arrogance of contemporary society

Violin passage. Did you guys put the purpose of the passage was meticulous analysis??? Or is it something else?

Knowledgeable fan, the passage was too lauding of the violin to have the objectivity of an analyst

^I think you mean POV, but I didn’t put that because she wasn’t really. But I went back and forth

sorry, this is a specific question but was that “knowledgable fan” question the last question of the section??

i put meticulous analyst bc she was going into such depth of what strads meant to ppl. it never said anywhere that she was a fan. only a former violinist that stopped at hs.
