***Official December 9 ACT Reading Thread****

is hard and flexible the same as strong and elastic?

The lady DID NOT refer to herself as a neatly folded shadow...so that was the right answer..

I barely could even get to the 3rd passage... i went 1 2 4 3 and i just mostly filled in bubbles with the exception of 2 where i just looked to see how a word was used as emerge

concur w/ nathanmc ^^

oh yeah, there was that question about how the word was used as emerge. we can add that to our list lol.

Father/Daughter Passage:
-Strained
-Intimidating and Compassionate
-foreign means uncharacteristic
-father's view of miles davis=old fashioned and predicatable

Postal Service
-newspaper editors
-passage is about transition of mail from public to private

Lady w/ Twin
-twin is designer
-43+
-seed = she and her twin
-general population
-folded shadow
-convention taught her lots but still didnt satisfy her curiosity
-singer is only singer
-turtle has different identity
-we= all people

Spider
-less toxic waste
-hard and flexible
-never said why 2 protein chain wont work
-word used to mean emerge

we have almost half of the reading questions listed!

whats the score for getting 5 wrong?

I'm pretty sure the answer for the first passage was "predictable and in opposition to his own." I think you're confusing this answer with another choice which used the word "old-fashioned."

wow so far i only have 2 wrong

yeah, 2 wrong for me, but that kinda sucks cuz i got a 36 last time :( on reading

Which question is "-general population" referring to? Also, when you say "predictable and old-fashioned," you mean "predictable and in opposition to his own," right?

u can still get 2 wrong and get a 36 according to one of my practice tests

An addition..
Father/Daughter Passage:
-Strained
-Intimidating and Compassionate
-foreign means uncharacteristic
-father's view of miles davis= predicatable and in opposition to his own
-Thing he just realizes is that he may not have enough time to spend with his father.

Postal Service
-newspaper editors
-passage is about transition of mail from public to private
-last development is private postal boxes or whatever

Lady w/ Twin
-twin is designer
-43+
-seed = she and her twin
-general population
-folded shadow
-convention taught her lots but still didnt satisfy her curiosity
-singer is only singer
-turtle has different identity
-we= all people

Spider
-less toxic waste
-hard and flexible
-never said why 2 protein chain wont work
-word used to mean emerge

we have more than half the questions ppl

qrd, ACT is weighted differently every time, so a practice test chart will not adequately describe this test in particular. However, my guess on the matter is this: It is December, the month where the overzealous juniors who are probably not prepared for the ACT take the test, and also the month where community college bound seniors take the ACT for the first time because they have procrastinated. These two factors combined = more incorrect answers = easier curve. Speculation; butcher me as you please =D

what were the other choices for the question with "last development was private postal boxes" or something as the answer?

you have a point there, notsomuch.

prepaid something maybe

prepaid stamps

was there an answer about mailboxes being convienent? and something about censuring letters?

wasnt it that it was private
