Official December World History Thread

I remember one question regarding the purpose of reincarnation in Hinduism.
I put down that reincarnation was not desired instead one wanted to achieve moksha, a release from the system.

That's what I put too.

do you guys think the curve will be lenient? more lenient than the Real SAT II book perhaps?

not likely...

If anything, I would think that it would be more strict.

In any case, guessing about the curve is foolish. There's really no way we can possibly know.

Which of the following rivers was the location of an early chinese civilization?
answer choices where
Huang He (Yellow River) I put down this one
Yangtze
Mekong
some others

I put down Yantzt

I put down Huang He...

Huang He (Yellow River) is correct.

What was the purpose of the long march?
Answers included:
To destroy the capital at Nanking
To escape destruction from the koumintang
To prevent the escape of Chinese leader chang kai shek

I was unsure, guessing between the first two.

What was the purpose of the long march?

To escape destruction from the koumintang

Why did monarchs and vassals encourage the building of towns?
a reiliable source of taxes (I chose this)
cheap labor in agriculture in rural areas

Confirmed nash13's answer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_March

To escape from the Kuomintang.

We now have more than 2/3s of the test compiled.

To escape destruction from the koumintang

a reiliable source of taxes (I chose this) is correct.

I'm pretty sure it was in order to establish a reliable source of tax revenue.

You know guys, I'd hardly say that "disappeared continent" is the best answer for Pangaea. When you say "disappeared continent" I think Atlantis. Pangaea didn't disappear; it just split up. The answer choice with something like "connected landmass" sounds by far like the better answer to me.

I'm about where General Rak is without the omit. ;-) I'm hoping for a very lenient curve.
