Official December World History Thread

the more posting i saw, the more frustraing i am . . .

Ok.

Just thought of another question:
What did you put for the one about the World Bank/IMF. Was that a collection of funds for developing nations, or a bank system governed by UN??

The World Bank and IMF most assuredly are international institutions that lend money to developing countries.

Incidentally, if you ever have a question (about history or anything) that you simply can't find an answer to, allow me to suggest this.

Oh that’s cool. Do you have to sign up to chat?

No, it's a free public service. But I'd suggest only using it sparingly and if your question is specific and serious (I've used it solely for scholarly research purposes, personally).

Are the librarians like professors or teachers?

for the byzantine one its gotta be the political succession problem. It was strong, but weaker compared to the other aspects. Check barrons and kaplan and they hint at the same thing.

so what did you guys get for the part of north america that was shaded? I said it was French cuz the spanish were on the west and the english on the east. The shaded region in 1750 (after which louis IV sold it?) covered lousiana as well so its gotta be the french, right?

Yes, French is right.

w00t!! lol im so ignorant of american history

What was the answer to the very last question?

what was the question?

It was something about the collapse of the Soviet Union, I think.

btw what was special abt agustus caesar? mark antony was cleo's hubby, right?

He's known for being the first emperor. Marc Antony and Cleopatra had an affair.

crap...that SUCKs. wasnt Caesar before though??

Julius Caesar isn't considered an emperor. Thucydides wrote a history of the Peloponnesian War.

BTW, I got to thinking about the philosophe question. Voltaire was one of the most prominent philosophes, but he advocated a strong monarchy rather than a democracy, since people are "very rarely worthy to govern themselves." I went with the "intellectuals who advocated societal reform" answer.

im so screwed. ommitted 4 on the test, got at least 15-20 wrong :( what would that translate to? low 700s?

Also, what was the answer to the question with the quotation about secret revolutions?

Can you be a little more specific?

I put lenin but its probably Castro. debating between the two and knowing my luck, its probably not even one of those.
