I believe they only count the four core areas (math, science, english, social studies) and foreign language. They assign 4 to A (90-100), 3 to B (80-89), etc. For AP classes, you can add .5 to each AP course GPA. They don't give any recognition to honors classes for the GPA.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's accurate. Check the admissions website for more detailed info.

Thank you mate. I don't really care much because that doesn't really matter to me anymore more ;) Is any of you guys visiting UGA this Thursday Dec 20, 2p.m tour? If so, i guess we can meet and say hello :P

yea idk whats up with that...maybe its because im indian and its more competitive since all the other indians are super smart? i was actually pretty confident about getting in...now i am despising short essay number 4...why do i care if aliens come to my neighborhood...ugh

D was deferred, no surprise there. She will not be doing RD as she has decided to move on to narrowing it down among the schools that want her and are showing her the love.

I think UGA would have been great for her as I believe it is an excellent school, but she has lots of options so no tears shed here. Congrats to the rest of you who got in and good luck to those going for RD, blessings on all your endeavors.

In every college admissions office, they make mistakes, overlook highly qualified students, or focus on some minor flaw..like one bad grade even if the overall gpa is well within the mean....it just happens. They get thousands of applications and have to make almost snap decisions. Its quirky and sometimes capricious. Every year kids get in who you think were on the bubble and kids get dumped or deferred who you thought were shoe ins. Its just the process. But just know that at the end of the day, like April 08, when you have several acceptance letters, whether from UGa or elsewhere, you will pick the school that is best for you and move forward. For those with painful results now, I empathize. Take a day to grieve and then move on and be productive. If you were deferred, get to work on the supplementals. If you were dumped, then find match schools and focus on their applications. Dont emote.

And if you got in, congratulations and don't gloat! Be compassionate and respectful of other's feelings. Each person is more than an SAT score or gpa. Each person has something wonderful to offer the world and they are just looking for a home where they can shine and thrive.

The really hard part comes in September when you say good bye to your family and start in school...its a huge adjustment and often a slap in the face of reality. But if you have a good work ethic, are mature enough to turn down the party scene, and can handle a lot of change in your life all at once, you will be fine.

I am indian i got in early? my act scores were higher than my sat and i also had 3.972 out of 4.0 GPA

I'm an Indian, and I got deferred. It's not because of my race I got deferred, but it's because of my SAT/ACT scores. UGA actually wants more Indians than they already have enrolled this year. It has to do with stats. Maybe what you think your GPA is at your school is different than UGA's GPA, brownboi.
