General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: YAY!!!I absolutely can't believe it! Attending Harvard has been my dream for six years.
Congrats to Early Admits...i'll see you in September. Don't lose hope, deferrees. And I'm sorry for those regected..i'm sure that you'll land at the right school for you.

Siffystars,

I know one Indian girl went to Princetone and a couple others went to Duke two years ago. Last year was great, 1 MIT, 1 Yale, 1 Harvard, 1 U Penn, and 1 got Morehead Scholarship.

My Counselor taught writing at Purdue, he corrects our essays and wrote very good letters. He also prepares us for interviews.

Can someone post the acceptance letter to Harvard? I just wanna see what it reads, because I probably never will. :-p

I was deferred. :( Now I have to wait more than 4 stinkin' months. I really, REALLY don't want to wait 'til April for a decision. Oh well. Congrats to those who got in! And for those deferred, good luck on your other apps, as well as in the RA round at Harvard.

BTW, I have it from a source that my application was read on Dec. 7. Would that be considered a "final meeting" date? And if my application did make it that far, does it mean I have a good (or, at least, better than normal) shot in the RA round?

Mary.loves.you: I got deferred too. But from reading the threads on advice for the deferred, I think the best way to find out about your chances in RD are to get your guidance counselor to talk to your admissions officer.

can someone throw out a number of deferral admits...just a number, not a percent; is the deferral admission rate actually close to the RD acceptance rate

Achilles, Here is the letter:

Dear XXX ,

I am delighted to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has admitted you to the Class of 2011 under the Early Action program. Please accept my personal congratulations for your outstanding achievements.

In recent years, nearly twenty-three thousand students have applied for the sixteen hundred and seventy-five places in the freshman class. Faced with many more talented and highly qualified candidates than it has room to admit, the Admissions Committee has taken great care to choose individuals who present extraordinary academic, extracurricular and personal strengths. In making each admission decision, the Committee keeps in mind that the excellence of Harvard College depends most of all on the talent and promise of the people assembled here, particularly our students. In voting to offer you admission, the Committee has demonstrated its firm belief that you can make important contributions during your college years and beyond.

By early March, you will receive an invitation to visit Harvard from Saturday, April 21 to Monday, April 23. Our faculty and students have arranged a special welcome for you and we think the experience will be interesting and useful in making your final college choice. Of course, we would also be happy to have you visit at some other time and we hope you will make a special effort to do so if you will be unable to join us in April.

Especially if you cannot come to Cambridge during the next several months, please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of help in any way. You will find our application booklet and our website good sources of information about college life and we will be sending you a course catalog in the spring to help familiarize you with our academic opportunities. We are enclosing a statement about choosing a college that might be helpful.

If you have indicated that you will be applying for financial aid, you should also read the enclosed materials regarding the status of your application, which may include our estimate of your award for next year. Final award decisions will accompany the complete admissions packet which will be mailed to you in early April.

You have until May 1 to respond to our offer. However, you may fill out and return the enclosed postcard or you may respond online in case you are able to inform us of your decision before May 1.

We very much hope that you will decide to attend Harvard, and we look forward to having you join us in September.

Yours sincerely,

William R. Fitzsimmons
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
Harvard College

bump........this topic should be pinned.

by skimming this article, i found that NO international student was admitted..
was i wrong?
if not, then *** is going on

i too am international

maybe no int'l on CC was admitted!

A lot of my international friends....some of them with perfect SAT scores...and great extracurriculars...did not get in...neither did I and a lot of other internats-> we were deferred.....maybe Harvard wanted to leave more room to american applicants in Early and accept us afterwards:( no idea....were there any people rejected? If not I feel bad about myself:(

Hope have better news in April

Yeah...like only 3 or 4 internationals on this list have been accepted...:( has America grown to dislike us internats:(? It's weird though...I thought they accepted more internats..diversity and stuff....And a lot of the deferrees have had good stats and so, I think Harvard Admissions is all about getting someone good to represent you. It's by no means fair and equal

bump...this thread really should be pinned instead of the 2010 thread.

Yeah I agree, lol.

:) So many ~2300s
I hope you guys cure cancer and stuff..:D
