Official Early Action Decision Reporting Thread - Class of 2016

Hello! I am an aspiring music major who has applied for Chapman during the Early Action period (Pre-November 15, 2011), and I've decided to make a new thread for people who would like to share their Chapman Admission's decision results with the rest of us! It's just a spin-off of the older thread (Class of 2014); the same prompt from that thread will be used here.

This would be great to give Regular Decision applicants an idea of what the turnout may look like.

Here's the prompt:

@SJRcalderone

Acceptance letters literally just started getting sent out 2 days ago. So I can imagine no one really knows yet, either…

unless of course you applied for film production. we have to wait another 1-2 months. :(

gec414, my son’s webadvisor page said “in the mail” on Sunday. So, four days for us. And, we live in CA!

Many admission decisions were postmarked and ready to be mailed on 1/6/12, and the days following. However, they just started sending them in the mail yesterday (hence the video release).

Here are my stats (to be updated:)

**Decision: Accepted **

I could list more information, but I’ll just say that I think it’s a good resume for a musician
**General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to Chapman…?:
**I want to go to Chapman!! If I’m accepted (IF) and aren’t offered enough scholarship and grant money, though, I wouldn’t be able to dream of going =/

Me and My Friend Got Accepted! We got our decision via e-mail from the admissions office but it looked like a scanned version of our acceptance packages. We might have got it also via e-mail because we both are international students. Class of 2016! :D

Congrats, Mari249!!! Hooray for you!
You got email notification of your acceptance and merit award? We are all under the impression that it is by snail mail only. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. A week tomorrow.
Can you confirm you received acceptance via email???

Oh, now I see what PiyuishC posted. Confusing, but good news that maybe they will speed things up. Son has two back up apps + 2 scholarship apps that he doesn’t want to bother with if he gets into Dodge. We don’t want to waste $200 on more apps and score reports. either. It seems odd that we have to wait an additional 7-10 days, when Chapman made the decision on 1/7.
Sigh.

Ughh. Now I see that posters above are all international. That’s why they get email notification.
WHY OH WHY does DS (and you all) have to wait a week or two longer than applicants across the globe???
We live in Orange County.
Apologies for the whining, but this doesn’t seem right.

OK, now DS’s webadvisor says that Decision Mailed was “As of 1/12.” Before it said Decision Mailed “As of 1/7.” Does this mean that it went through their in-house process (letter generated, etc) and is now actually on the way?

Did anyone else’s “As of” date get updated???

And to make matters more tense, Monday’s a holiday so there won’t be any mail! (Or even mail precessing wherever our kids’ letters are.) More waiting, darn it.

Oh, sorry to hear this, anethercutt. To what program did you apply? Confusing, too, since a number of posters here have indicated early notifications slant strongly to acceptances. Perhaps that isn’t true.
Best of luck to you in all things.

Decision: Accepted (I wouldn’t be posting this otherwise)

**Date applied:[11/15]

Comments: 15,000 scholarship but I’m appealing for more

I’m pretty sure that we got a scanned version via e-mail cuz it takes a LONG time for normal mail to reach us here. It’s a little messed up with normal mail here and I think the admissions office knows that. Also, our WebAdvisor said decision mailed on the 5th of January.

Decision: ACCEPTED to Dodge–Digital Arts

Date applied: 10/24/11
Date decision postmarked: 1/13/11. Received: 1/14/11
Accepted at which school/major at Chapman: Digital Arts at Dodge!

Stats:
SAT Total: 2300 M: 760, CR: 800, WR:740
GPA: 3.7w /4.27uw
AP/IB classes: lots and lots of APs

Essays: really really good, he slaved over the Dodge written essay for full month. For the video essay, DS submitted a 1 minute hand-drawn animation that won first-place in an AcmeAnimation competition.
Teacher/Counselor Recs: didn’t read them, of course, but was told they were “top 1%” type letters, written by teachers who love DS and know him well (including his animation teacher of 3 years).
EC highlights: Eagle Scout, falconry, tons of volunteer hours in local community, organized and completed a renovation of the OC Bird of Prey Center (local rehab facility for raptors). Independent film-making, 3 animation summer programs at UCLA.

Location/Person:
State or Country: Orange County, CA
School Type: Large public high school
Ethnicity: Icelandic/Irish American. Gender: Male

Other Factors: Won 3 animation awards in junior high and HS.

General Comments: Got the Chancellor’s Scholarship: $20k merit per year, renewable for 4 years. DS says that Dodge is likely his first choice, but ultimately will depend on the full FA package from LMU (in EA already) and what the $damage at USC looks like (if he gets in there). He has loved everything about Dodge since first laying eyes on the place and program, so the whole family is over the moon.
