Did anybody not get accepted :P? Congrats to you all. Does anybody know how much more competitive the RD round is?

^yes, if you look at that huge thread for hopefuls. some people got rejected and they probably don’t feel like hanging out here anymore.

They have a lower acceptance rate, but RD is also a much bigger pool with a lot of no-chance-at-all applications. I think people with the sorts of stats you see here still have the same chance.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/li][/ul]General Comments: I would appreciate it if any of you could chance me, I respect your honest opinion and look forward to hearing from anybody. If I have one regret, it is not applying ED. NW is by far my first choice, and any suggestions as to how to show that to the Admissions department would be appreciated. I’m freaking out guys, any feedback is good.

@whtstht this forum is really for people posting stats, so you shouldn’t try to be chanced here, BUT I will offer you some advice :)

I would make sure you have very strong essays and very strong recommendations. I was accepted ED this year. My test scores were above average, but they were PRETTY LOW across the board, so in order to make my app strong I really focused on the supplements. If NU is your top choice, make sure to show them that in your supplement! Use SPECIFIC examples about the school and avoid generalizations as much as possible. As for recommendations, make sure someone who knows you very well can write you one and really make you shine.

Hope that helps :)

@whtstht p.s when I say low test scores, I mean in the mid 20s for ACT :D

[ *] Strengths: Writing skills and essays, recommendations.
[ *] Weaknesses: TEST SCORES. I don’t do well on official tests.
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My writing, definitely. Also my writing scores on tests were wayy higher than all the rest, which showed how developed my (albeit only) strength was.
[ /list][ b]General Comments: Seriously, I’m so blessed to be admitted. I am one of those MIRACLE admissions. I know NU is the place for me, though.

WILDCATS WHO IS STOKED!?!?!

Congratulations to you, LadyDirector. I too got a 26 on the ACT when I applied with an 11 in writing. Guess what? I’m a senior now majoring in history and currently have a 3.7 cumulative average. History here is no joke and has probably one of the heaviest reading loads of all majors. I also took all-300 level classes (the highest offered at the school) with one or two exceptions from sophomore year going forward. Needless to say, that ACT score is not predictive of future performance. I’m proud to say I also got into a few T10 law schools already with a 170+ LSAT score, a score which many 2300s don’t even get :D

There are definitely a few of us who defied the odds getting in but don’t let that ever make you think you don’t belong at the school. For those wondering, I’m not even URM- East Asian, an immigrant but not first generation. Again, congratulations and I’m glad Northwestern was your first choice. You will have an amazing time, I just know it.
