Ne way, a quick question for any and all: Does anyone know the % of deferred that actually get in in the RD round?
[/quote]

I asked about this during an information session, and they said the % who are accepted who are initially deferred is about 14%, which is higher than the general regular decision acceptance rate.

not all of us rely on the sluggish, if reliable, usps you know :)

i actually e-mailed my representative/interviewer guy who said he would let me know when he does. he came from my city, so he was pretty happy to do so.

actually, i think the priority mail was done by usps (I wasn't there when it was delivered, my mom couldn't help herself and she opened the envelope even though I told her not to. But it doesn't really matter--it's still good news!) But yea..the usps symbol was on the bottom corner of my envelope

I called my pton interviewer once I found out; I think I might've freaked her out; she was just about to leave her apartment to go on vacation and all of a sudden some overeager applicant calls her and thanks her. haha...

lol. i can't really see the difference between the guys who got deferred and those who got accepted. they've basically got the same stats, no?

Yea, acceptance is like a lottery. Honestly. I donot see the difference. maybe the adcom people see the difference, but to me it's pretty much as random as you can get.

My guess is that a lot of it boils down to one's essays, since we are all so similar in terms of scores/extracurriculars/recommendations. I would say that extracurriculars only play a role if you're a) recruited for them or b) if they're intense, national (?) activities. Otherwise it seems like having strong extracurriculars is just a prerequisite.

Axfr, I can tell you're from France with the way you've written this sentence - after six years of French I've found the "no?" ending working its way into my questions.....
