Official Fall 2015 Brown Transfer Thread

@sellemhc22 I’m leaning towards the UK options myself. Do you know where to find more details on the programs other than the link in the acceptance letter?

Nvm, found it on the Brown site

@actvalour http://www.brown.edu/academics/college/special-programs/international-study/pinpoint-your-program/sophomore-mid-year-transfer-program

Try this.

Wow, I feel like I’m the only person here who wasn’t accepted, haha. Did anyone get in who needed substantial financial aid?

@timidnotion Try not to feel discouraged. You’ll do great things wherever you go :slight_smile:

Can we start a Facebook group to like discuss transfer stuff?

@Brown2018 great idea! Who’s going to create it?

So there is a facebook group that was made for last year that looks official. So I assume they will make one for this year…However I’d be happy to make one if enough people are interested.

To the people who think everyone got accepted, I think people who got accepted chose to post it because we want to brag a bit (I know I did…)

I also love the facebook group idea!

What are other spring admits thinking about doing? I like the idea of studying abroad and meeting other transfer students, but not a fan of having to pay tuition while abroad. Anyone thinking of doing study/internship abroad with an outside company to cut costs?

I was accepted as well…and just really cannot believe it. I am shocked. Also a community college kid…

Very down for the Facebook group idea. Did anyone get information about financial aid yet?

Hi everyone! I got accepted for Spring as well :))) congratulations to everyone! But yes, also interested in switching for fall. How is that even possible?

I was waitlisted, and I requested they will still consider me if any spots came up. I just checked the selfservice page and where I had the “Click here” button for the decision I see “Admission decisions are currently not available” again. Does anyone else who was waitlisted have the same change on their portal?

Any other Spring 2016 admits (that have done their research) feel like not applying for aid was an unfair hook? Though I hope it doesn’t affect my decision to attend or not, I cannot help but to feel a false sense of victory and not particularly wanted there.

@wtfiscollege I completely understand what you are going through. I did everything to maximize my chances and did not apply for financial aid. I was accepted for the fall, but I still have this feeling that I did not deserve admission hovering above me. I am so happy, but I can’t seem to shake this feeling in my gut, and I have no idea if I would have gotten in under regular circumstances.

@wtfiscollege @Victory26
Hey guys! We alllll fall into that kind of thinking. I have had two friends transfer from community college to Ivy League schools. Both of them said everyone at the schools feels like their admission was a fluke or an accident. Not even just after being admitted, but also when attending the school and taking the extremely difficult classes with extremely smart students. You have to remember that you did SO MUCH to get into this amazing school OF COURSE you deserve to be admitted. With a 5% acceptance rate for transfers, they wouldn’t have admitted you if they didn’t think you were fabulous students! I certainly have been feeling up and down with my acceptance, wondering why I got in over another student at my school. I too, have to remind myself there isn’t one single factor that helped me. So be proud of yourselves! If Brown, didn’t think you were the right fit, they wouldn’t have found you a space!

I’ve seen that so many people have gotten their decisions and I still haven’t gotten mine??? The portal still says decisions aren’t available yet? Help!! I want to know and it said they will be out by the 15th

@JCW77 thanks so much! I think you’re right and there’s just something about the human psyche that generates all these thoughts in people’s heads. Now is the time to celebrate and revel in our accomplishments. I think I just needed to hear someone say what you said, so honestly thanks so much :slight_smile:

Is there any type of accepted students day for transfers to help us decide?
