@samantha19 How do you know if you got in “easy”? No UCs or any other institutions are “easy” to get into. The only reason you are accepted is that you’ve earned it, not given. What would rejected people think if they see your post? Please do not take this for granted.
Ppl often get into UCD and not UCSB or vice versa. You never know how they’re looking at criteria. Davis and SB are pretty equal.
Acceptance Rate
UC Davis 41.3%
UC Santa Barbara 36.1%
for your reference @Samantha19
UCSB’s acceptance rate this year was actually 32% (even lower now). So yeah theres that. ppl should just be thankful that they got accepted to any UC nowadays. Since it’s so unforgivably hard to gain admission these days…such strong applicants.
Good luck everyone and good job! Your hard work has paid off.
still pending, with TAG.
A friend of mine got rejected yesterday morning, his major is EE, same as mine. He has all the required classes completed, but I didn’t ask him what his GPA was, I felt bad for him. Every person I know(4 people) that has applied for an engineering major and has heard back from UCSB has been rejected thus far. Is UCSB really that picky? I am hoping I get in!! my GPA is 3.6, major GPA 3.85, all required classes that my community college offers will be completed by the end of Spring. Good luck everyone!
Hmmm it seems that only the EE majors are hearing back and so far it’s been all rejections. With the TAG gone for engineering starting this year, UCSB has every right to be as picky as they want with whomever they choose. That’s kinda scary.
@gac146 @ShuttlepilotND At this time I’ve decided that no news is good news… I also have only heard of people being rejected from UCSB’s CoE. I think both of you have a great shot at getting in since you’ve both met all the prerequisites and have good GPA’s. The other possibility for CoE’s selectivity is that it may also be weighing subjective factors (ECs and essays) more heavily.
@gac146
I don’t think UCSB is that picky. If they were picky, I think I would’ve received a rejection weeks ago since I’m missing two required courses or maybe I will receive it this week, who knows. I just want to find out if im in or not :-S
Sure didn’t think I’d be waiting to hear back from UCSB fifteen days later…
I’m planning to live on campus but my reward letter say I’m living off campus. Anyone having the same problem? Should i call them or just wait it out.
I believe everyone’s says off campus…
@lbwaterpoloman Whoa, I didn’t even realize it’s been 15 days already…
Just wondering, does anyone know if they will be snail mailing rejection letters?
I’d rather my parents not see that their 70 bucks went down the drain…
I don’t think they mail rejection letters…I believe they only send packets for admitted students.
@kmariel are you still pending?
Major: Pre-Economics/Accounting
GPA: 3.7
IGETC and Pre-reqs: No IGETC (haven’t taken foreign language) but all prereqs pretty much complete by Spring.
TAG: No
EC: Just work…
Just got my acceptance today!
@CancelOut I am.
@kmariel the wait continues on…
Oh my… Ok. I was stressing over UCSD, but I shouldn’t be. It’s unfair that some of you still haven’t received a decision from UCSB, acceptance or rejection :\ I received my acceptance from UCSB in the first batch, so I should be grateful I at least have that. Good luck you guys!
