Did anybody get on the waitlist for UCLA? Do we have to show them our spring grades or write another essay?
I haven’t submitted my waitlist acceptance yet but it says to provide your Fall grades and spring grades. The essay is optional!
@ttop220, us the essay why you love UCLA, or why you’d be a good fit?
@lindyk8 “You may provide your fall semester grades, your spring course schedule, and/or any additional information you wish to provide (max 7000 characters).”- from the decision page. I’d write more about “why I would be a good fit” than why I love UCLA.
So not your spring grade? How likely are people on the waitlist going to get in?
I was waitlisted as psych major, never thought they’d waitlist psych major students
Also waitlisted as a psych major, all prereqs and IGETC done, strong personal statements and decent ECs. The only reason I can think of is because my GPA is on the lower side with 3.75, but I actually went from a 4 Year Private (Reed College) to CC and now am trying to transfer, and my Reed GPA was 3.5 bc Reed is a notoriously difficult school. I thought admissions would recognize that, but perhaps not… UCB is still my top choice so not devastated but I’m so so nervous that this may mean UCB isn’t likely.
waitlisted for math/econ
anyone know who to email if we’re interested in knowing why we were waitlisted?
no idea, please post if you find out. was thinking of calling on monday
How does the waitlist work for transfer students? I read on last year’s thread that it depends on how many people in your major accept the offer of admission…
Pretty much that’s it, @fncrane. And then some have financial aid and they have to calculate what is left.
I was really bummed when I found out that I got wait-listed but it appears that not many students were wait-listed…maybe a couple hundred at the most? I’m not getting my hopes up; however, quite a few students end up accepted to LA & Berkeley and choose Berkeley…
@Lindyk8 so then would it make a difference if you were under an impacted major vs. a non-impacted one?
I think it would just depend on room that becomes available. Waitlisted means they want you.
Waitlisted as an Electrical Engineering major. I thought I was rejected but after reading the whole thing i realized I was waitlisted.
@saadhasnain95 Where do you see the waitlist numbers?
@lindyk8, does it really mean they want you? If they wanted someone, wouldn’t they accept them? It seems to me like waitlist is more of an “You’re ALMOST good enough, but juuuuust slightly under the rest of the accepted class”
@melimoo, yes. When you get put on a waitlist it means they considered you a competitive qualified student. They just didn’t have enough room, so some people need to wait it out. That’s why I always think it is important to write out an essay if they offer you an optional one. It really boils down to how many people SIR elsewhere within your major (or are poisoned in their sleep).
