Hello all hopeful applicants! With march 16th just about a week and a half away i’m already starting to feel the anxiety of the decision date. So all transfer students please feel free to post your anxious questions or your thoughts on your chances of being accepted to ucsb as a hopeful transfer applicant. This will be my first decision as i await to hear from other UCs in the coming weeks as we head towards april. Good luck to you all and i really hope you can make it in to your school of choice including UCSB!
I’ll post a quick thing of my stats. But since i tagged and have already been done since the end of the fall 2014 quarter…i feel a bit more at ease. But i still totally want to see my official acceptance hopefully on march 16th. I know us transfers won’t all get answers that day or week, but they’ll be coming out starting that day and some of us will be lucky enough to know our fate on day 1.
Once again good luck to all you guys and i hope you make it in : )
@Mbraca92 thanks man! I totally feel you will also get in especially with your stellar GPA and the fact that you also tagged. The time is sure to speed up in the coming days as our decision date draws near. Daylight savings this Sunday should definitely make the time pass by even quicker.
Does anyone know how the process works for changing majors? Obviously after I get admitted. I applied as a political science major with a 4.0 gpa, but I want to change my major to history.
@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1 I’m not entirely sure on that process concerning UCSB specifically. I know there are some UCs that do not allow you to switch out of the major that you were admitted to in regards to transfer applicants (it’s obviously different for freshmen applicants)…but basically if i were you i’d personally call UCSB and refer my question to a knowledgable UCSB rep. That way you are sure to get a 100% legit answer.
Well if it’s the same as Cal, if the majors are both in the same college and neither are impacted you just signup for history classes, and declare your major once you fulfill the requirements. It doesn’t require any process really. If they’re in different colleges it might be more tricky. At least that’s how it is here.
@kyle2015 @music1990 Thank you both. I’m going to contact a representative if I have time today or tomorrow. I’ll post what I’m told, so it can be helpful for others.

I am CC student currently. I had 1 F which I retake with A, and 3 W (2 W in last Fall) . Here is my stats
Major: Chemistry B.S
GPA: 3.18 at the time of Application.
TAG : No
IGETC: Will be completed in this Spring
Pre-requisites: Will complete all in this Spring, but 2 MATH (Differential Equations , Linear) & 3 Physics
Applied: UCD, UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, UCI
Accepted : Pending
@Anxiety2015 Your gpa isn’t the problem, it’s definitely in range. But in regards to UCSB specifically its more to do with the fact that you are taking 2 math classes during the spring term. They prefer that you take and have all of your math (or at least one transferable math course) done by the end of the fall term before you transfer (in your case fall 2014). I was actually rejected last year due to me taking my final math course (statistics) during the spring 2014 term. I tried the appeal process since i received an A in statistics and maintained a 3.0+ gpa for that specific term despite taking my largest course load of 5 class=17 units. But i still failed to gain admission because my major department was already filled up due to the demand of students that sought admission to ucsb and were accepted the first time around.
yeah i was totally upset, but that gave me time to stay at CC and finish my AA and IGETC and i’m glad i did especially after receiving the awards in person. I feel i am more ready for UC this year and i totally cannot wait to attend this fall 2015.
But yeah dude, you may get rejected just because you seem to be taking the math at the last minute (during spring). But you also have a chance at getting in…who knows, i’m only speaking from my experience and what i’ve heard so many times before. But anything is possible. Even if you don’t get into ucsb, i personally feel you have a good shot at the other UCs you applied to. I’ve known many ppl that were accepted to davis in the past while taking their math and english pre-reqs during spring. Long story short, my advice is just my knowledgable opinion at best, nobody knows whats going to happen until decision day period. I had a friend last year transfer into ucla with a 3.2 gpa…but he had phenomenal ECs and a great essay. ppl get caught up on gpa alot, and although GPA is a good factor, it isn’t always the undoubtedly determining factor for how successful you are or can be.
Good luck. I’m sure you’ll get into at least one place.
I too am very anxious about the upcoming months. Can someone tell me if i have a shot at any of the UC’s I applied to
Here are my stats
Major: Political Science A.A.
GPA: After the transfer academic update 3.52
TAG : No
IGETC: Will be completed in this Spring
Pre-requisites: The only thing missing is my math requirement which will be completed by the end of spring (statistics) I got two w’s both from math, which is explains why I’m completing it in the the spring.
@choji100 you have good stats but you’re taking your math requirement the spring before transfer, which is looked down upon by some UC campuses – one of them being UCSB. You never know though.
