A big factor that led me to commit elsewhere was their transfer credit policy. They were awfully stingy with awarding credit for some of the gen ed classes that I took at my old university. Sophomore standing with a 9 credit deficit? Thanks, but no thanks. Make sure you check your credits before you commit!
Are any of you Resumed Education for Adult Learning (REAL) program applicants? Wondering if they’ve already released some decisions for this particular program.
REAL applicant here, no news yet.
Huh. Im a rising sophomore and didn’t get housing
But they did say they’d take all my credits
Can those accepted post stats?
I’ve been told that the first batch was released on wednesday and that we may or may not receive the rest until June.
@anactan So Tufts is basically placing the rest of us on a waitlist?
I got into the REAL program, they want me to reply by May 24th!
anactan, how did you hear this? Was it from admissions?
I got my acceptance on Wednesday but didn’t get on-campus housing. We should create a facebook group to look for off-campus housing because it would be great to live with other transfers!
That would be great. Did anyone try to email or hear from the contact mentioned in the letter? It seems like he is supposed to be helping.
@claireofthemoon8 yes please!! I got into the class of 2021 fb page and posted on there about this, but I haven’t gotten any responses yet. Is there some way I can contact you directly so we can talk?
@smallgiraffe I still haven’t gotten into the facebook group but yes! What’s your facebook? We could message on there!
Stats:
Accepted rising sophomore transfer student (Community Health major)
SAT I: 1460
SAT II: Bio (molecular)- 800; bio (ecology)- 800; calculus: 700; literature 740
High school GPA 4.46 (3.95 unweighted)
Course-load: handful of AP’s, all other courses at the honors level
College GPA: 4.00
Course-load: general bio and chem courses, philosophy, global health, freshman writing intensive courses, etc
College ECs: rugby (elected recruitment officer), Spectrum (LGBTQ+ Forum), campus sexual assault advocacy program
High school ECs: camp counselor (work + volunteering), orchestral performing troupe, science bowl, etc.
Essays: (common app) Wrote about how I ended up at my current university (legacy and merit scholarships) and where I wanted to end up academically (a university with more engaged students, stronger community health program)
(Supps) I “celebrated the role of sports in my life” and I “let my life speak” by discussing what was difficult about growing up in a rather socially and politically conservative community.
Why (I think) I was accepted: I had previously applied, but it was an admittedly halfhearted attempt. This time around, I think I demonstrated a lot more self awareness and ambition. I moved away from the naive notion that I was a pre-med, which I think made me a more interesting applicant.
accepted.
how to check how many credits are transferred??
@transfer0611 They sent me an estimate of transfer credit the day after I got my notification.
How come I havent heard anything?? where did you find out the application status? did you get an email?
@CantGoBackToJail yes, there was an email sent.
