Official February 2012 ACT Discussion Thread

For the science passage, are you guys referring to the E0 and absorb/etc passage?

It was a pretty hard test. It was my second time taking the ACT and felt alot better this time. Still need to work on reading comp and some math. English seemed pretty easy and science wasn’t as bad as last. Over all I might have scored decent. Probably could do a heck of a lot better. I also had 70F form.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using CC

Iris, those are exactly the two that screwed me up!

The triangle and ramp didn’t give me any units? I was completely confused! I guessed b (6) on that one.

And i put d for the w+x problem

Which ramp question? the length or the two triangles? Length = 6.3 (right triangle)
Two triangles = 11
and the other one was (w+x)^2-(y+z)^2

I actually found the Gene Q passage the most difficult out of the science. I was never a biology-inclined person anyways, and was absolutely perplexed by the recessive/dominance individual questions.

Hey, I think I put 6 on that one too.
But as for the w+x, I think I put a. (Random choice between a & d).
I tried the plugging in method … lol
It didn’t work, so… xD

yea i tried pluggin in too and it didn’t work. d got me the closest, but choice a seemed plausible (redistributing the variables with association property)

did anyone get 6.3 on the ramp one (i got 6.25 then rounded it off)

@MacaroninCheese
How did you find out the triangle’s length? I didn’t see any measurements…
As for the other one, I chose (w+x)^2-(y+z)^2 I think.

@Voberaptor, I thought there were only intergers as the answer choices…

Frontium,

I absolutely hate the gene passages. i feel like they make you think and infer more than any other type of passage. it was on the december act too, which i completely bombed in science.

Yup thats what i got…6.25 and rounded to 6.3 cause it said 2 round.

On one of the gene question:

If the Q-stuff is a recessive, then what’s the probability of Individ-23 having the Q-thing?

That was 100%, right? I remember both parents having the Q

This test was harder than any of the Real ACT prep practice tests…

Iris - 100%

i put 25%, but i really didn’t understand that one. i thought both parents had Rr, so rr would be 1/4.

On the english section, there was a question that had a choice like:

picturing _____
pictorial ______
something other random and redundant
no change.

Was that pictorial _____?

ya that and the physics passage completely screwed me over. For genetics passage what was the answer to the last question? was it Qq i wasnt really sure…

iris- pictorial history

I think it was pictorial ______.

Last question?.. I don’t really remember o.o…
Do you remember the question?

Oh yes, on the reading:

On the passage about an immigrant… I think from India(?)

anyways, one of the question said:

according to lines (x-y), her attitude toward her house can be best described as:

sad because it’s getting old and no longer perfect

satisfied because it shows her family’s life on it…(something like this)

-----

-----

Was it satisfied? I changed from sad -> satisfied at the last minute.

Crap, did you have to double the 6.3 because it said both sides of the ramp.
