If you scored perfect on the SAT I, why did you take it a second time?

I think it's supposed to be a joke. Or at least, I was laughing while reading it. I mean, nobody takes 21 AP classes, period, but to do that, be captain of three sports teams and have enough time to work out and practice to become an All-State/American, and then to work two jobs (stop & shop and law firm), and then have over 1000 hours of community service, and then get involved in a political campaign, and then to be president of eleven clubs, and then be a finalist in a competition where there wasn't a finalist from your state... Oh, and don't forget those two patent-worthy inventions. And if they already have patents, that means he applied a while ago. :p

So unless Alaska has like 90 hours of daylight per day... ;)

And then leaving with this comment: "this shows sat ii's aren't everything, you can still get in without perfect sat ii's all you need is leadership and ingenuity" Comedic genius.

i was finalist in 2004, i took sat second time becuase i signed up for sat before i got scores back. i self studied for most of my aps. You can finish all that if you have commitment.

i dont want to go through this again, i proved all of you wrong last time
you dont have to believe me

good luck

Yeah, it was a joke, I think. I mean, very well-done (not like some of the other way over-the-top joke threads, this one had some believeable stuff), but it was too extreme. Not so much in stats (although 21 APs, yeah :p) as it was in the presentation of stats. The giveaway was that Alaska has never had a regional finalist in Siemens.

OK letmegoivy, I'll be looking forward to meeting you at freshman orientation. And I hope you'll give me a copy of your Westinghouse research once we meet. :p

Anyway, yeah, the extra curriculars were the real giveaway. Combining the sports, official club leadership positions, community service, and competitions... and then having jobs on top of that... hahahahaha.

"oh ya im gonna apply to princeton and yale and all the other ivies to see if i can get in there because they are my dream schools"

If this were a real post, wouldn't you know that the deadlines for all the Ivies have passed already?

BTW, how would we be going over it "again"? You registered today, first time we've met you.

I'm a junior, but my here's basic stats of my school's accepteds this year:
Applied EA: 4
Admitted EA: 4
1. 2350 SAT, very involved politically, good but not amazing grades, hard classes
2. 2210 SAT,research but not involved in anything else, very 'worldly,' okay grades in easy classes, mother attended Harvard
3. 2380 SAT, not involved in anything, great grades in hard classes
4. 2100 SAT, hispanic+legacy+spots recruit....yeah, I know.

PorSK, we know it's a fake, lol stop attacking it. It's pointless :p

i'ms orry i made a grammar mistake, please forgive me mr. "this were a real post"

porsk, what is your name, i wanna meet you. i bet all this is because im native

How is faking an award a grammar mistake? :p

haha, that troll iwannagoivy is back. Will he ever give up with the joke? At least take it to another board.

letmegoivy, you'll know me because I'll be the one with the powerbook.

snicker

s snack congrats to those 4. Can you give me a ballpark figure on what you mean by OK grades in easy classes, though? I'm more surprised about that than the athlete. ;)

That's very cool and absolutely amazing that you got four people in!! My school has only had one Harvard acceptee in at least 2 or 3 years, and she turned it down for some Institute of Technology down the Charles (which, it's been speculated, has temporarily cursed me at H :p). Are you at a private, if I may ask?

PorSK:

OK Grades in easy classes: Mixed As and B's (but more B's)...1 AP Soph, 2 AP Junior, 2 AP Senior, the rest are non honors.

Wow, that's really surprising.

Oh, and private

Just a short one to everyone in the H forum.
Please don't think that by reading these profiles and everything you'll increase your chances of getting in. remember that Harvard are serious when they say "There is no formula for gaining admission to Harvard". Very serious.
And if you'll ever get on campus or talk to an alumnus you'll understand that.

Scores, grades, activities, references, activities are all factors but by now everyone here should know that not even the knowledge of all these can even reasonably well predict someone's chances of getting in. Try to be yourselves everyone all through the process - Harvard expects you to.
Always remember the by-now-so-common profiles of people getting in saying they had applied just to give it a shot.

And in the end remember, getting in Harvard will not only change your life in the most unbelievably positive ways that you'll imagine.

Chill.

Clarification for my last sentence: it will also make your life extremely hectic [to the point that you might just at times you hadn't idealized the place that much].
