tupac: Yeah, that is a very good hook which will definitely boost your chances tremendously. However, keep in mind that IMO gold medal winners have been denied admission to Harvard before, so your chances aren't quite 100%.

apfreak.. you're freaking out on us, haha. chill chill. harvard ranks "personal qualities/character" as one of the most important admissions factors.

"IS BEING FROM FLORIDA A HOOK FOR HARVARD YALE DUKE PRINCETON?? ANYBODY KNOW???????????? "

You've got to be kidding me? Florida has 100's of applicants to those schools each year, and there are PLENTY of opportunities for you in ALL areas in your state... States like Wyoming and South Dakota at times have only 5 people, if not less, apply from each state. Harvard accepts at least 3 people from every state to make sure they get people from all 50 states. People in places like South Dakota don't have much of anything... In fact, most high schools there don't even have AP courses offered and the only ecs avalible are sports... So really, being from South Dakota can make up for a lack of extracurricular activities, for an example... And maybe an SAT score of like 2000... Also, most people from these upper-mid-western states where almost no one applies generally only the rich people from those states apply.. So being low-income and living in South Dakota or some place as such can and does help you in the admissions process.

Actually, they probably accept more. It is true... There's even a map of how many people Harvard accepted in one year.. They have a website with the stats and everything. My next post will have the URL. HarvardAlum98', Are you from a rich, northeastern family in which the only reason you applied to harvard, had a near perfect sat score, a great gpa, tons of ecs and awards, was because your parents made you do so? Reality bites, doesn't it? Now I'm sure I'll get in trouble with the moderators because they're probably in the same situation that you are or were in and God forbid the truth get out in the open. It's very sad when students who are nothing but normal applicants for the ivies try to find all "possible" hooks... I mean, being from FLORIDA, a hook? One person thought being from southern California was.
