“I second dascholar, you will be admitted and attend the school of which you deserve.”

Thank you if that was sincere, because I know what I deserve. However, there are also a lot of other deserving people out there. In my opinion, like many others, admission to elite colleges have in a way become a crapshoot.

If it was sarcastic and you’re suggesting that I won’t get into a college that I “deserve” if I apply to many schools, I’ll just pretend that’s not what you meant :)

Magentaturtle- that’s not what I meant. There was no sarcasm.

Alexissss- although you may not be in school this year, apps still have to be done by mid October and early December.

My advice to you all. If you plan on applying to a large amount of schools, apply to as many EA as you can, and do the applications first for the schools you really would attend AND you have a good or assured shot of admittance and financial capability to attend.

You will not want to do all of those essays, whether you’re in school or not. Strategize.

I know the feeling. And we’re still 5 months out from knowing decisions…

@timpanist13
Can I assume that you play timpani, or at least like then? I’m a percussionist myself and it’s always fun to meet other percussionist. Just a thought I had. :D

Yes, you may assume that I play the timpani. I am also a percussionist. Although I play most percussion instruments, I love to play timpani. As a matter of fact, I play timpani in this year’s Harvard Summer Pops Band, it’s quite an awesome opportunity! Who knows, if we both somehow get in, we could be playing together at some point!

Are supplement forms out for schools yet? I know Common Apps come out August 1, but I didn’t know if that was the same with supplement forms.

Also, is it bad if your transcript says that you took an AP class, but do not submit your AP scores? For example, I got a 5, 4, and a 3 (lol) and I didn’t want to submit my 3 but since I only have so many AP scores, I didn’t want to not submit the 3 and let them think that I got a 1 or something.

LASTLY! (sorry so many questions!) If I got the AP Scholars award from my 5, 4, and 3, should I list it even if I don’t end up listing my AP scores?

Thank you!

Thought I’d join in the fun, Here are the schools I’m applying to other than Harvard SCEA,

I was wondering, on the common app (for any class of 2016 on this thread) is it better to self report all of your ap exam scores, or can we report our best ones? I have one that I don’t really want to report.

Good luck to all who are applying! From hearing how unpredictable ivy league admissions can be, I think we’ll all need a little bit of luck on our sides as well :)

@blackbelt and Oneten–My D went through the same thought process with respect to the APs. She took 4 APs junior year but did not want to report 2 of the scores. She also worried that if she didn’t report the scores, Harvard and others might assume she scored a 1 or 2. She ultimately decided to report only the 2 good scores. I have no idea how this was viewed by admissions (assuming they cared at all), but she is a Harvard '16er (SCEA).

Is a 720 and 710 on my SAT 2s not Harvard SCEA material? (I have 2340 ad all 5s otherwise)…should this sort of thing keep me from applying early or will it probably not be an issue?

So, would it hurt to only report the scores which are the best and just leave out one? I want to go in with my best foot forward but then again I don’t want adcom to think that I got a 1 or 2 on that exam.

One single factor will not help or hurt you. Those are minor things in the scope of your entire application. Worry about the things you can change, like essays, than something that has already been done.
