I think files might be being accessed now. I was informed that Harvard requested my interview report early, although I’m not sure what that means about anything though.

But according to Gibby, in past years the full committee hasn’t met until after the Thanksgiving Break to finalize SCEA decisions. So sadly no decisions yet!

@soccerlover17 - Not sure there’s a place to upload them onto common app by default, so it might just be an ‘if they request them’ sort of thing…

Anyone knows if it’s a problem if my School Report still isn’t in :(? My counselor submitted the Final Report, not the School Report, about 2 weeks before the deadline but it has never been downloaded from the UCA… I keep reminding her to resubmit the right form but it seems like she’s too lazy to fill out the same questions (just 2 questions are different between the two forms) all over again…

@mimosa26 - Know colleges only hold you accountable for your parts of the application. This is the reason why teachers can submit their references in after the deadline. You can’t control when they choose to get those in and I’ve heard straight from ao’s mouths that they’re substantially more lenient with school counselors since they know schools get busy handling an entire graduating classes’ university applications. TLDR Follow up with her, but don’t lose sleep over it! It’ll be fine.

Glad to see other UK students here. I am also applying for PPE - at Balliol - but I am really hoping for Harvard. With any luck I can compensate for relatively weak ECs (British state schools, at least mine, don’t have a very good range of activities) with academics. Hopefully. It will in all likelihood come down to essays and references, if I have a chance at all.

@steinway @Regenerated I heard about the TSA, everyone told me it was a nightmare. I’ve applied to Cambridge to read economics, but I’m having second thoughts about my subject choice so my American applications are crucial. And yes, I go to a state grammar school. Do you guys go to private schools? Seems like the majority of Harvard UK students went to privates.

@ImmtrlDlctc I agree. UK schools, especially state schools, place significantly less emphasis on ECs compared to US high schools. I suspect the Harvard admissions officers are aware of this, but I do think it’s important to get involved wherever you can.

How many UK applications do you guys think Harvard receive every year? I assume around 14/15 are admitted annually, so the acceptance rate for UK applicants must be pretty low.

Is it true that they give us a personality rating based on our essays and interview? I really want to organize another interview because my interviewer was incredibly busy. I don’t think my interview lasted long enough (20mins) for me to show my personality. Is this possible if I contact the Harvard admissions office?
