@235423 Haha just saw your comment after posting mine. What you said was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the linked page.

There is nothing more nerve-racking than applying to Harvard imo

Interview tomorrow at an alumnus’s home! She sounded nice on the phone so I’m not too nervous. Will update with how it went.

anyone have an answer to my question above??

@lsee21 I don’t think we can assign new recommenders in the Common App anymore now that the deadline has passed, so you probably need to use the portal to submit any new material.

@Isee21 Yes, I had to submit my extra recommender through the Common App. However, at this point, you could also have your recommender mail the letter directly to Harvard.

I just had my interview at CalTech, where my interviewer works. It went great! I felt like I was really able to show him who I am. Fingers crossed.

@aranshghs I didn’t get that question. That’s really surprising.

@harvard00 Yes :(

@calliemoon11 hmmm I wonder if its a common question.
I’m glad your interview went great!!

@aranshghs How did you answer the question? I’m just really curious.

I still haven’t gotten an email or call for an interview, yet.

@PcollegegirlP Philosophy I’m here!! I’m pretty sure about the philosophy part but I’m considering combining it with Maths or Computer Science… But most philosophy majors at Harvard do it as single major as it indicates here <a href=“HarvardKey - Harvard University Authentication Service”>HarvardKey - Harvard University Authentication Service;
Why do you consider Philosophy btw ?

Anyone here considers joining ROTC?? I’ve read somewhere that taking part in JROTC seems to be sth bad in “elite” college admissions :-/

@fairyfantasy I’ve already had an interview but I organised a second one (interviewer was super busy so only lasted around 20mins). I just contacted the Harvard admissions office with my name and reference number and now I have an interview later today, albeit through Skype (I am from the UK). I’m sure you can organise something if you get in touch with them.

@aranshghs I didn’t get that question in my interview… But I did get another question that I didn’t know how to answer… “How did you find out about Harvard?”
@mimosa26 that’s great! Found a philosopher well, I want to continue to law school…I’m really into philosophy and and thinking deep into problems, so I thought why not… After all, to enter law school, they don’t require a specific bachelor degree, as long as you have one… How about you, you want to become a philosopher?

@bvborussia I just emailed them to ask about the interview. Kind of nervous that they will analyze my email or something for my personality, character, etc, lol.

@mimosa26 I am actually pretty interested in getting Double Major in CS and either Psychology or Philosophy, too. (Leaning more toward Psychology, though; I want to dabble in philosophy in my free time)

So my interview lasted about 30 min and was pretty decent I’d say. It was shorter than I would’ve liked, but my interviewer basically told me to tell her stuff to get me admitted. Like when I went to ask about her Harvard experience, she was just like “no, you tell ME things to get you in.” No “Why Harvard?” or any other quirky question. Had a discussion about ISIS though and about arranged marriages (I’m Pakistani). She also insinuated that being Paki with high stats could potentially help in admission for diversity though I take that with a grain of sand. Told me that her report is due tonight and that if I should remember anything else meaningful that she could talk about, I should email her. Could’ve been better, could’ve been wayy worse. Pretty content, just gotta wait a month now and hope for the best.

@Ninopedia I think I started off talking about my academics and ec’s and mentioning that they aren’t as impressive as those of other applicants meaning to talk about other things later and then she interuppted me mentioning something about my gpa so I didn’t really get to finish through. I really regret saying what I said for that question, but then again even now I don’t know what I would have said that would have been a good answer haha what do you think you would have said??
@PcollegegirlP oh gosh, I would have panicked had I gotten that question lol! What did you say??

Is anyone else sending a thank you card to their interviewers? I bought a thanksgiving card because its almost thanksgiving, but have no idea what to put.

I sent a short thank you e-mail just to be polite :)

@aranshghs To be honest, I don’t think I’ll get into Harvard lol. But If I were to maximize my chances of being accepted, I would probably say I think I would say something like I think I’ll get in because I’m a good match for the academics and culture are Harvard. I don’t know if that’ll make a difference though. :S I haven’t had any interviews yet.
