Official IVIES thread

yeah, i was wondering

well, you win some you lose some. I'm applying EA to Georgetown, by the way. Shows you the talent from the cream of the crop. Then again, it is 2 AM on the east coast, so maybe I just need to go to bed.

LAgal, accha idea hai

I applied Princeton ED, and will apply RD too Yale, Brown and maybe Darthmouth

Yale (EA), Brown, and Dartmouth.

shukriya, astrix!

LAgal- got the message over at the Duke forum. I'm not a trad-Ivy applicant, but Duke ED here:)

Hmm... Kind of disappointed no one's applying to all 7 ivies. LAgal or lindseylujh, you want to take one for the team and do another application?

There are actually 8 ;)

Ahh... forgot Brown. I guess those two need to do two more apps (to make me happy at least).

im applying to duke ed also, and as for the ivies, I'm applying to penn

MIT (EA), Yale, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard

Yes, I know that's a lot.

The ivies are generally so different that if anyone applied to all 8, it would imply that they didn't know what they wanted and were just prestige whoring.

I decided I'm just gonna take a chance and apply RD to Princeton. Worth a shot, no?

RaboKarabekian, don't be too quick to jump to conclusions. People have an untold number of reasons for taking the actions they take. You cannot paint everybody with a broad brush. You do your thing and let others do their thing.

oh, I accidentally left off Dartmouth on my list, too (I settled on this one just a couple of days ago). And I agree that everyone has their reasons. I wouldn't judge someone based on the fact that he or she is applying to all 8, although it does admittedly look a little suspicious. But to each their own!

I love the idea of an Ivy support group - someone used this turn of phrase earlier and it's just the best. We're definitely the kids who seem most stressed out about college apps, so... we definitely need it!

Love you, LAgal, for starting this - and Happy Thanksgiving, all you Americans!

Yea Legendofmax, how can you just FORGET to put Princeton?!?!

Anyway, I'm doing PRINCETON ED, Yale, Brown, and probably Columbia.

I wish Pton had a stronger rivalry with Yale; it'd be more fun that way but they tend to ignore us for Harvard... "Harvard Sucks, Yale Rules and Princeton doesn't matter" :(

RaboKarabekian, that's what I'm doing. I figure, you apply for undergrad once in you're life, and if you don't apply to that dream school, you'll never know. So it's worth it, I think.

I actually found Penn and Dartmouth to be the most similar Ivies in terms of people believe it or not!

Perhaps we should make a recommendation to the Mods to have a Ivy board so all these questions don't float around in separate schools.

you go get 'im, zante! haha. and yeah, I think you have a good idea there. And slipper, that actually is believable. I've found that too.
