*OFFICIAL* January 28, 2006 SAT Thread

Yeah like anyone listens to those rules.

heh, what's ETS gonna do, hunt us down one by one?

You knwo, I'm starting to feel ambivalent about the whole falir vs exaggeration thing. I was sure that it was falir, but the fact that hyperbole was in the passage suggests otehrwise. I maintain that flair and authority makes a lot more sense though.

Maybe we should called ETS about that one? Hehe.

Seth, don't abandon your position. Did anyone request the thing from CB that sends you a detailed score report? If so, does it have answers to every Q?

I don't think it was volcano, but rather fishing. Since black holes are normally destructive, but are benefical in that they help create stars, its the same as fishing making it easier for lesser organisms to thrive. Also, for the math, was one HK=0?

I believe HK was 1. I also put the volcano thing for reasons previously stated in this thread.

Dark ruler, that’s exactly what I thought for the blackhole fishing one.
No, the hk one was 1.

agree with julina

yes, hk=0 since after factoring (h-k)^2=(h+k)^2 we have hk=-hk, and i put the volcano, because it specifically states DIFFERENT CONTINENTS which parallels black holes by the distance factor.

i'm pretty sure it was volcano, because the passage said that Scientists were surprised that the black holes affected planets far away when their influence was only suppose to affect planets near by. The volcano erupting on one island shouldn't effect the next, but it does

yay! same here. I put volcano~

did u put "athlete joining a good team and then quiting the team" for the irony question?

Almost forgot, but for teh question about UFO's, where the question asks you how the writier of passage 2 would inetrpret a "concensus" from passage one that UFO's exist. I got "oversimplification of complicated debate" for that one. Is that correct?

edit: I also got volcanoe and athelete. I think those were pretty implicit.

yes, the athlete one was also correct because it shows wasting abilities.

No there were two different questions. one was h+k=1, one was hk=0. I'm not really buying volcano, but the majority seems to have it..

I also wrote volcanoes; HK? whats it stand for?

seth blue, i think that's the correct answer, but i don't remember what i put.

Then I guess I didn't get a Q that asked for HK...was that an experimental?

I also put athletel Oh and I think I put oversimplification of a complex debate

Oh. Do you remember what the hk question was?

the hk question was (h-k)^2=(h+k)^2, what is the value of hk? And the answer is 0

P.S. the 60 seconds thing is really ****ing me off
