***official june 2013 sat 1 score thread***

@bidgreen: You should be okay if you are only a sophmore; should be able to improve a couple-a few hundred points in a year

Composite: 1830
Math: 570
Critical Reading: 660
Writing: 600

It was my first time taking it, no studying whatsoever. Is it good?

EDIT: Essay was a 6 ._.

December 2012
CR- 640
M-720
W-710 8 Essay
Composite-2070

June 2013
CR-640
M-740
W-780 11 Essay
Composite-2160

CR was the only one I studied for too :frowning: Pretty disappointed

Anyone else retaking in October?

Composite: 2360
CR: 760
Math: 800
Writing: 800 (essay - 11)

I’m quite pleased with my score (3rd try). :)

those of you with 750+ in CR how did you do it? Doing practice tests didn’t really help for me…I’m really worried I really need a high CR score. :/

Math: 700
Critical Reading: 670
Writing:790
(MC 80, Essay 8)
I am so shocked with writing. I came out of the test thinking I bombed it (my essay wasn’t special). Math was what I predicted… Critical reading *** I got 800s on the practice tests.
haha.

Composite: 2030
CR: 660
Math: 680
Writing: 690

This is my second time taking the test, and brought up my scores of 560-660-690, so I’m pumped about that, but I did not prep for either of the tests. Would it be worth doing so? I also scored higher on my PSAT, with a 205.

Will getting a 630 on the Latin SAT ruin my chances at an Ivy or Stanford (considering a 3.9 GPA, 2200+ SAT I and 740 on SAT US history) if I don’t retake?

123lar, your Writing score was 790 with a 80 MC and an essay score of 8? My youngest got 80 MC and an essay score of 8 but got a 770. Is that possible? Anybody know why there would be a difference?

570 Math
550 CR
510 Writing
8 Essay
1630 total

Extremely disappointed, but I didn’t study at all. Regardless, I really hope studying this summer can help me reach the 1800 zone.
Although I’m not confident it will improve considering how many people have told me that some individuals just won’t be able to improve much more based on intelligence.

i got a 1960…first time and did it on no sleep…

640 cr
710 math
610 writing with 7 essay

Hoping i did better on act…i think i did

@PrincessPea
Every administration uses a different curve.

I don’t think it is completely dependent upon intellegence…the testing format and type of questions are repetitive. Study it more…personally, I thought the English ( sort of like writing) and reading is wayyyy easier on ACT. I got high 30’s on both, yet i got in the low 600s on sat. You should consider taking that.

@DPTking

Don’t sell yourself short. I am going to be completely honest with you, with a score in the 1600’s you probably only have slightly above average intelligence. With that said, want to know what the highest score is that you can get with your intelligence?

2400.

The SAT is a skill and a game. Any game can be beaten and the SAT sure as hell isn’t an exception to the rule. I guarantee you that if you study enough you could get a perfect score. Maybe not in time for college admissions in the fall (I’m assuming your a Junior), but anyone is capable. Now, the real question is what are you doing right now? Are you studying or are you feeling sorry for yourself? The only thing you can change is your preparation for the next test. If you study as much as possible from now until the next test, the 2400 is the only limit on your score.

In 9th grade I scored 1740. In 11th grade on a practice test I scored 2100+, and I’m guessing I will score above 2200 for this June test (I haven’t got my test back yet because I had such a large increase in my score from 9th grade until now).
That’s almost 400 points in two years w/o studying; completely by just completing the standard high school curriculum (and being very lazy about it if I do say so myself).

As Russel Wilson would say, “The separation is in the preparation.” You have a unique opportunity to better yourself right here, right now. Take advantage of it.

1860 with no studying and staying up till 1 AM the night before.

swag

CR: 800
M: 620
W: 700
(total: 2120)

I was really upset. When I took it in March, I got a 2140 (800 CR, 610 M, 730 W). And I felt like I’d really improved my scores–I walked out of the June SAT feeling confident. But now I feel awful. I know these are great scores…they’re just not great scores for me. I want to apply ED to Johns Hopkins, but this worsening of my scores is hurting my chances. Significantly? I don’t know… :(

I’m thrilled with CR, because I never even check my work and am always done in about half the allotted time. So to get an 800 twice in a row is awesome. But math SUCKS. I studied for at least an hour a day starting in May and my score improved 10 points. That’s almost nothing. (Math makes me very anxious, so even studying that much was hard for me.)

Writing hurts the most. I am a writer; I tutor in it and work for a newspaper. My novel recently met with positive feedback and a request for further work from a literary agent. And yet I got a 9 on my May essay, and an 8 on this June one. Adding insult to injury, my MC writing score went down. I’m stunned…I NEVER do this badly on the writing practice tests.

I joke that I should just stop trying so hard in math and writing because it apparently worked for CR…beginning to wonder if there is some wisdom in that…?

Has anyone else had this kind of weird, frustrating experience?

@DPTKing In March I got in the 1600’s and with my Jun test and superscores I got in the 1800’s so it’s definitely possible. Keep studying and working hard. Practice, Practice, Practice! (My post is #80 if you’re curious and want to see)

@NWskier Thanks! That was extremely motivational and you totally brought me out of the temporary one day “Slump” i was in. I’m definitely going to practice a lot at least 1 hour a day this summer (I’m an upcoming senior, just finished Junior year). That’s a pretty big deal for me considering I’m awfully lazy and procrastinate to the fullest extent. Regardless, I managed to maintain a 90 GPA which is decent, so I’m sure that biggest struggle should be motivating myself haha.

Anyways you’re totally right, I need to stop wasting time worrying (I even go as far as googling what to study for SAT’s and how to improve everyday) instead of actually studying -.-". But yeah, I can’t thank you enough for your post.

@JDancer Thanks! How’d you go about studying? I’m planning to just use my collegeboard sat practice tests, and my 2009 Kaplan practice question book. Although Kaplan’s not that greatly rated… and it’s sort of 4 years outdated I think it should still suffice, at least I hope :P.

I know I don’t have a score as high as all of you guys, but I’m still extremely proud of myself.
R-520 (highest was march 550)
M-520 (highest was march 560)
W-610 (YAY! 10 on essay!!)

So, superscored I have a 1720. I’ve come a long way…on the PSAT sophomore year I got a 1290. I have had a tutor once a week this whole year and I think the major studying pulled off!

2390, with an 800 Reading/790 Math/800 Writing distribution. I’m pretty happy with my score, that last 10 points is bugging me but not enough to retake. For reference, I scored a 2100 with a 760r/660m/680w on the December test and 2250 with a 770r/680m/800w on the May test. Improvement is due to a bunch of independent study.
