Math: 740
CR: 760
Writing: 780 (11 on the essay)
Pretty happy that I don’t have to retake senior year! :)

definitely make sure you study the vocab. if you learn the words even the level 5 questions are relatively easy with the context clues they give you. also, don’t read through the whole passage and then answer all the questions. some questions are macro (need to read most of the passage) and others are micro (refer to certain lines). read the question, go to the line that it refers to, and answer it. then answer all the macro questions at the end. thats how i got a 760.

I would definitely retake. Ivy Leagues and Stanford are looking for at least over 700, preferably 750. Maybe even see if you can take something easy like Math I.

not at all. from when i first took the psat as a sophomore to when i took the real SAT this year I improved 500 points. studying helps a lot!

above average i would say considering the national average is somewhere in the 500’s. he will probably improve a lot if he studies over the summer. definitely work on critical reading and writing because those sections are the easiest to improve in. get The Essential 500 on amazon. helps a lot with vocab and critical reading strategies.

2320
800 Critical Reading
800 Writing
720 Math

I thought my math score would be much lower–I’m pleased. I am worried that the difference of 80 points between my math score and my other scores is a bit dramatic, but I don’t plan on retaking.

you’ll definitely be able to improve. my score improved 200 points from the first time i took the test. don’t worry about it! and send that score to potential saftey schools (most of them track interest)

good for northeastern and BU. maybe NYU depending on your other assets. i would say its a reach for northwestern and brown. those schools usually want at least high 2200’s and even then you aren’t a shoe in. good luck with apps!

Hey guys and girls, new here. Ive taken the SAT twice, last time, I got a 650CR,650M,710W for a total of 2000. This time, I got a 670CR,790M,670W(went down)for a total of 2130. Anyway, not planning on any ivies or anything, but should I retake it for appyling to Duke or UNC chapel hill? Also, would my (almost*)perfect math score standout? Thx :D

ps…that 10 points on the math is bugging me. I thought I got everything right…

Hey guys!
I got a composite score of 2130. I guess that’s ok. I’m not disappointed but not overly happy either.
Break down is 740M, 720W and 670CR.
I really hate critical reading! :frowning:
Anyways! I am a little confused on where to go from here. Should I take the SAT again (that would make it a third) and try for a 22+?
What do you think of my score for ivy league colleges?
How about top schools non ivy league?
and other schools, because I live around Philadelphia something like Drexel? or Temple?

Any advice for the future would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance

@ severage You may want to retake it for Duke but I don’t think it’s necessary.
@iamdon I know CR sucks :frowning: For Ivys and other top top schools I would suggest retaking but for other great schools that’s a totally fine score!

I took the SAT 3 times and was wondering which ones to report to colleges and would appreciate some advice :D.
1st attempt: 780 M, 700 CR, 720 W
2nd attempt: 670 M, 720 CR, 700 W
3rd attempt: 790 M, 710 CR, 800 W
For schools that allow score choice should I just send in my 3rd attempt (2300) or the 2nd and 3rd one (2310 superscore) or all of them to prove my 2nd math score was a flub? …

@etshine 3rd attempt only. 2310 superscore isn’t worth sending the 2nd attempt

Thanks etshine. Now I saw one poster worried about an 80 score difference. Umm… I have a 120 score difference in sections. 790 math and 670 in the others. How will that look, like I’m a genius in math or an idiotic American who doesn’t even know his own language? Specifically to duke and unc.

Nerds…

2200
690-CR
720-Writing
790-Math

This was my first attempt at taking the SAT and with very little studying due to being focused on AP exams and other school stuff.

Planning on memorizing 700-800 vocab words and maybe doing a little preparation for the writing before taking it again in a few months. Got an 800 on writing on my PSAT as well as an 800 on math, so I’m hoping that (with a little bit of luck), I can get this on my next attempt:

2340
740-CR
800-Writing
800-Math

If not, hopefully something that I can maybe superscore. Overall, pretty happy with my 2200, although it was a slight dip from my 222 PSAT. I was expecting that, though, with the addition of an essay.

Lol just kidding

Monty, you have given me lots of hope! I took my Sophomore PSAT this year without prep and got the same score as you, and was worried that my independent study might not yield the results I wanted for the real SAT/PSAT this coming school year. Now I am excited to (hopefully) improve like you did! Mind telling me what you used to study vocab, btw?

@jamesjunkers
Thank you

Any other opinions? Is it worth it to report a 2090 SAT to show a 720 (vs 710) CR? Even though it’s just 10 points i feel like 720 is a whole different level lol…

Went through Bluebook

Will take Kaplan prep
2200? in October?
