@StanfordWOW I read posts from plenty of other people discussing the ambiguous wording in several questions… I highly doubt it was just 97Percent and I who found this was the case (I’m a writing tutor, editor, and future English major, and I thought the wording of the questions was sometimes unclear, haha ^.^)

It was understandable though.

I beg of a big curve

@LAMuniv, I knew how to do the problems, but I still got a ton wrong because of crazy wording. They should’ve sent you an email for the survey.

Just to be clear, I don’t have “awful” reading skills. No need to be mean and rude here. A LOT of people misunderstood the questions.

And there has been -9 before.

Only some were bad, I didn’t think the wording was terrible in general.

Oh yeah I agree, just a couple of them threw me off a bit. I wish they’d hire me write these questions XD

Unless, you know, they like em that way.

The wording is to blame for maybe one or two problems. The thing is, being good at math doesn’t guarantee success in the subject test. The best method of preparation is doing practice tests. If you do like 5 practice tests, not only will you become comfortable with the wording, but also familiar with some of the recurring questions. That’s my bit of advice for people who have yet to take it, or are planning to retake it after this one.

BTW, this is off topic, but mrnephew, don’t you think Harvey and Mike are like Batman and Robin, and Suits is a show about their day lives? I’m sure in the nights they don their costumes and fight crime.

Well, they work in different sectors now, so… :((

Does anyone know if the subject tests, specifically Math 2, has the dummy questions (you know, the ones the SAT is trying out, that don’t count?) on it?

I don’t think it does. There’s only 50 questions anyway.

I really hope they drop the 800 cutoff to 43 raw sccore…

for the question about the equation of the line being tangent to the parabola, did you guys get y=2x+3?

Also, when you guys are saying the cutoff for 800 has been -9/-8 before— are you referring to a 41/42 raw score? or are you saying (41- 9*.25) about a 39 raw score gets an 800??

@College123college

That was B right? Yeah.

@97Percent Operation Bomb Collegeboard’s Survey So We Can Get Higher Scores is go. I mean, I do agree. I’m a left brained math guy, I can’t understand questions that aren’t perfectly clear. So we’re all going to mention #47 and say that it should have said “distinct prime or primes”. Now what was the issue with the great circle problem? I think the general consensus is that we were just stupid and missed it.

I don’t want to sound pretentious, but did anyone else think the test was decent, because my practice tests were harder IMO.

@DaneBrick, I agree with you 100%

Guys, here is the honest truth: Everyone who takes Math II is very, very smart. Usually, the people who take it are toward the top of their respected class, and excel greatly in math. The questions are not meant to be straightforward. That is the reason the curve is so generous. So stop complaining that you didn’t understand a question. I took BC Calc this year, and am confident on a 5 on the AP, yet I found some questions difficult. And I have no problem admitting that. So stop saying you’re going to get everyone to fill out the survey negatively. In all honesty, they don’t care. Plus, the percentage of test-takers who are on college confidential is extremely low. You’ll get what you get, and you always have a chance to retake. Even if you are a junior, there’s still the beginning of next year. I’m sure you’re all smart kids, and I’m sure you all did the best you could. Good Luck.
