****OFFICIAL JUNE 2014 SAT MATH II THREAD****

You shouldn’t do Chung if you have low self esteem. That book will take your confidence and throw it down the toilet.

I got an 800 and I used “MyMaxScore” lol. I signed up for the test late and I didn’t have any time to order any books online. That was the only one my bookstore carried.

I think the key to Math II is problem solving skills. It sounds like Dr. Chungs has a lot about that, so even though I didn’t use it, that would be my recommendation.

800 this second time! Got 750 on first sitting.

Glad I motivated myself to retake this test :)

Went from a 650 to 780 without studying

Everyone should learn from me and never study at all ever!

Smh.

Well I do think it’s consolation for low scorers. I just got lucky and was tested on the things I did know how to do. I don’t have a clue about: Sequences, Sums, Advanced Probability (permutations ect.), and probably more. But the test focused on trig and functions, and I just happen to be a beast at that stuff.

@BassGuitar How did you achieve such a score jump? I’m in your same starting place and I’d love to get such a high second score!

@screamingpumpkin Luck of the draw man. The first two tests I thought were rough, but the June one felt like a joke to me since it tested the areas I knew well and avoided the holes in my knowledge. Still, the consensus seems to be buying Barron’s and taking all the practice tests. I would do just that. But most importantly, don’t beat yourself up over a bad score.

Don’t not study. Thats like the stupidest thing to do if you want a good score.

Why are my scores not up yet??? ugggggh.

@BassGuitar Ah alright. Thanks!

I did practice with a few practice tests, and I thought I was prepared, but I guess not. :P

Just Got an 800 first try, used only barons. I suggest it to anyone realistically aiming to get in the high 700s

Got a 750 on this and 780 on chem. I’m really happy with the other score, but to be honest I was expecting math to be a little higher. I’m toying around with the idea of a retake but I honestly want to be done taking tests before senior year starts. Can anyone tell me if it’s to my advantage to retake? I’m applying to MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and Cornell in terms of colleges that require it, and everything else on my app is as good as i can make it (lots of ECs, 3.98 UW GPA, 36 ACT). I feel that I wouldn’t be rejected on the basis of a 50 point differential but honestly I have no idea.

800 yesterday, 36 ACT today. Feels good.

@gauravk306‌ I don’t think you should retake it, especially since you have a score of 36 on the ACT, and a high GPA. I don’t think that 50 points on an SAT Subject Test (which aren’t that crucial) would make a difference. Use your precious time on improving other areas (ECs, leadership, essays)

Lol @gauravk306‌ I got a 780 on Chem too.
QUESTION: Am I fine with my two scores of 780 and 740 or do I retake one or even add a third subject?

@PoisonIvy20 you’re pretty much fine as far as subject tests go. however you could take a third one but it won’t influence your chances that much

Got it @DaneBrick‌ thanks.

I got a 690. I took like 6 or 7 of the barron’s practice tests and got over 750 on most of them. I’m definitely retaking. Any different book suggestions? Or any test taking tips?

@adttee I’m in similar condition (640 really bad score) …I think the barron’s is the way very far from the actual sat.Specially with new style of such a hard and tricky questions.Like some people in this thread I think that Dr. Chung is the way that you can get 800.
