**** OFFICIAL June SAT II English Literature Exam ****

@cofbrien‌ do you remember more of the poem? I’m trying to find it. I remember the second line goes something like “or cometh not, for then it ends” but I can’t find it anywhere.

@michelle1029‌ it might have been the one about the woman’s lover who she dreads meeting because she knows they will have to leave each other but I could be wrong. I just remember being very confused because the first few lines were talking about how the sun rises like a fire being lit and then the question asked what the first few lines represented and the options were something like: Peace, Chaos, Friction, and Love or something like that. I put Friction because it was talking about how the sun rises as a result of rubbing two sticks together to make a fire or something like that. Don’t know if that will be any help, sorry! If anyone else has any idea what I’m talking about, please let me know though!

These were the passages on the test:

Chinese boy and the wind chimes

Step sisters – <a href=“The Project Gutenberg eBook of Wives and Daughters, by Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell”>The Project Gutenberg eBook of Wives and Daughters, by Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell;

Woman’s poem about lover coming back

Oak and Lily – <a href=“BigHominid's Hairy Chasms: Ben Jonson's "Oak and Lily"”>http://bighominid.blogspot.com/2006/12/ben-jonsons-oak-and-lily.html</a></p></li>

Women write better than men – <a href=“Sir Patient Fancy”>Sir Patient Fancy;

Thesaurus – <a href=“A Poem A Day:: Day 223: Thesaurus, Love of Words”>A Poem A Day:: Day 223: Thesaurus, Love of Words;

I’m not sure about the exact order, and I can’t find the one about the Chinese wind chimes or the lover. But the other ones might help.

@RoseOak3918‌ nice find :)

How did you guys all do?

I got a 740, which isn’t what I was hoping for (750+), but considering I didn’t study for it at all and the curve is so harsh, I’m satisfied. Only one more of these tests in October and I’m done!

720 in lit, is that enough for ivies?

@‌RoseOak3918
@SATandAPs
how many questions do you think you got wrong?
i thhin they’re really good scores :slight_smile: considering that it’s lit and a lot of ppl fail

@pringles97‌ I really have no clue and thanks that’s reassuring :)

Got a 770! Pleasantly surprised! I was expecting low 700s.

Would you guys suggest I order rescoring? I received a 580 which is equivalent to about half correct, yet when I checked here it seemed I had nearly everything correct aside from the poetic structure questions. No idea how I could have missed almost half without a mistake with either my bubbling, or the CollegeBoard themselves. Mid 700s on my US History test and I felt far worse about that than this Literature one.

Frankly, I have no idea what the hell is going on. I’ve never had trouble with SAT reading (790), or any sort of reading comprehension, and last month I got a 690 on the SAT lit, but this time somehow it fell over 100 points, when I thought it was much easier than May’s exam. Could someone help me out here? What am I doing wrong?

I got an 800. I have no idea how (there were maybe 10+ questions I was iffy on), but yay!

@ameripen In my opinion, SAT II Literature is far more similar in terms of content to the AP Lit exam than to SAT I CR, so I don’t think CR scores necessarily predict SAT II Literature scores. SAT II Literature requires a much more thorough understanding of literary technique, familiarity with poetic and prose convention, and deeper comprehension in general. I would suggest looking at poetry, as that seemed to comprise the majority of the test (I don’t know if it always does, only taken it this once).

^^^ Interesting. Our daughter got a higher Lit score than CR… Sat for both exams just once.

Wondering if she needs to do the SAT I again for higher CR or just start focusing on essay prep and extra-curriculars? Plus we thought she should try the ACT just to see what’s up…

I got a 720 in January and 590 this time. I’m a little surprised that so many others here did as bad as me too. We got one hell of a test.

@BassGuitar‌ Well, it’s very comforting to see that it’s not only me who licked the toilet on this one… The June test also had many more literary nonsense terms than any of the other lit exams I’ve tried
