thank you so much nick773. your answers really helped
im just scared that if they wait until they get my grade for calculus (mid may probably) to make their decision about me, they’ll already have accepted other students and there won’t be space for me. oyyyy i’m hoping it works out.

I’m not sure that will be the case. If you sent them your transcript and they see that you are currently taking Calculus, then what they would probably do is just make sure you pass the course. I’ve heard of other people in this same situation and that is what it usually comes down to. You should give them a call (310.338.2750) and request an academic counselor, I have had great experiences with the ones I spoke to, as all of them have been very friendly and knowledgeable.

Hey Everyone!

I’m hoping to transfer to LMU all the way from Michigan. :)

I have a lower GPA than most- 3.0 - but I have 3 great letters of rec, volunteered for my spring break this year in New Orleans, tons of volunteer, Interning this summer in LA at a Non-Profit Organization, also interned at a marketing development company this past fall and I played 10 years of travel basketball. I feel like I may have a chance! trying to stay positive

Does anyone know when (about) we are supposed to be finding out the decisions if we applied before Jan. 15th? I’m am dying over here!

Good luck to everyone! <3

Hey rmn, im from Iowa–go Midwest people! Wow, you do have a lot of ec’s! I would assume that would raise your chances considerably. What major are you applying for and how many college units have you taken?

I was looking at an LMU transfers thread from last year and it looked like those that applied around the time we did (before jan 15) received a decision in early April. Others that applied in March were hearing back in late May and I even saw one in early June. They said the reason was because they need to get all the Freshman applicants organized before moving on to the transfers. This year was a record for Freshman applicants so unfortunately it is looking like we might hear back even later than last year. The wait is killing me!

@Nick773 that’s awesome your from the midwest as well! I’m a Marketing major, what about you?

ughh i know, me too! Hopefully we’ll find out in April. It’s hard too for the people who live in different states because I can’t really make any definite plans until I know if i’m accepted! ahhh lol

@rmn8757 I applied as a communication studies major.

I know I’m so frustrated with that. I applied to the University of Iowa as a backup, but my heart is set on LMU. I really hope they let us know soon because I want to apply for on-campus housing and live in one of the on-campus apartments.

Any transfers heard anything back?
I just submitted my app last week :/

@thisisu nope haven’t heard anything yet =\ I applied Jan 28th. I have a 3.49 GPA (From UT Austin) so I’m kinda worried (I applied to psychology)…but I did get a 31 on the ACT so maybe? Blah. What’s your gpa/major?

@kmart153 My GPA is a 3.36/ Communication major. I didn’t add my HS test scores on the app…But that shouldn’t hurt me with 60 units right?

Just wondering, did LMU send you an email after you submitted the common app? It’s been a week & I haven’t gotten anything regarding log in info & what not…

@thisisu I just sent mine because I thought my ACT score might help, but you should be fine! I’m super nervous, I really want to go there. I’m hoping psych isn’t a really hard major to get into.

Don’t worry about the email-mine didn’t come for almost 3 weeks after I submitted my application!

@thisisu- kmart is right, it does take a while to receive the login info after submitting the app. I think LMU is on Spring break this week, so I would probably expect to hear from them some time next week.

I submitted my app on January 15 and still have heard if im accepted or not. Im thinking they are probably just finishing up the Freshman applicants and will probably move on to the transfers in mid April. (At least that is how it was last year)

@kmart-Having about a 3.5 for psych is pretty good from what I have seen in their website regarding avg gpa’s for given majors. If you have a lot of really good ec’s, then I think you will have a strong application. If you have less than 30 units then you can submit your high school transcript and I think they will look at your ACT score.

Your stats aren’t terrible. But DON’T inundate the admission committee with too many documents. They ask for a certain number of documents and give specifications as to the length of essays and such because they have such a HIGH volume of applicants to wade through. If a school sees that you cannot follow directions, that may negatively impact their view of you as a potential student.

@nick773 Yeah I have good ec’s (a lot of them are church related so maybe that will help haha) so yeah. I can’t wait until we find out! I’m so nervous!! I have more than 30 units but I’m still a freshman (I got a lot of credit from doing IB diploma at my high school). But I sent them my high school stuff anyways just in case :)

@thisisu: I received an email on Monday informing me that my application is now complete, and that the Committee will be meeting to review it shortly.

If you met the Priority Deadline, it’s likely you’ll receive such an email soon. No MyPAW login information as of yet, but I’m assuming I’ll be getting that email within the coming week.

Thanks jesuisvirginie! I just received that email today…I’m so anxious! If I don’t get in (and receive decent aid) I don’t know what I’ll do…

I hope this means it’ll actually BE soon, and not late like last year (Based on last year’s thread).

For those who already or just most recently got access to their MyPaw account, are you able to access your “MyAid” information? Under Systems Login, you can see your app and financial aid info, but for me it’s saying that “Access Denied” because supposedly I haven’t applied for aid even thought I submitted my FAFSA and CalGrant back in Feburary, I just got the MyPaw info like 3 days ago if that helps, I’d appreciate any info, thanks!

@p4pfighter Something similar happened to me for a while after I applied. It basically told me I didn’t turn in my FAFSA. But I just called financial aid and they quickly looked up my information and told mebthat they have had the info for a while, but haven’t had the chance to put it on MyAid. You should call them today just to make sure you both are on the same page.

do we have any idea when we might start hearing back? I applied like…a week or two after the priority deadline in January (I think I applied like Jan 28th or around there)

I was admitted as a Transfer March 24, but I’m still waiting to hear back from other schools also got into University of Miami. I am also waiting on financial aid information. I applied to Umiami, USC, LMU, and UCLA. Have yet to hear back from usc or ucla.

oh wow! congrats!! when did you turn your app in for LMU??
