First time (though I went through 8 of 10 practice tests in Blue Book (only looking at CR))
I got:
680-CR
790-Math
800-Writing (9 essay)
(Comp-2270)

Should I retake because of my CR? I did already go through 8 of 10 practice tests in BB for CR and still only got a 680 (though I usually had about 610 before that). I am worried because I really want to go to Stanford or UChicago but everywhere I look, the 680 seems to be at the 25% of the acceptance, which greatly worries me. I know that SAT scores aren’t everything but I still want to do well.

Second time:
CR: 640 ahhhhhhh, so much worse than last time
Math: 770 holy cow
Writing: 750 (9 essay) also holy cow
Comp: 2160
Should I retake it in May? My CR reading was so low this time and I’m not applying to privates so my 2200 superscore isn’t worth much.

the writing surprised me the most because I usually did the worst in the practice. The math was just like ■■■ for me o-o I knew I didn’t do very well, but I did not expect such results… I’m really disappointed, but I just have to work harder i guess. My goal was a 2200… OH man. In general, I expected way lower marks, like in 1700s, but 1850 is still quite terrible lol… time to study some more.

I got an 1850 and this is my first time as well!

CR: 600
M: 660
W: 590
E: 8

I’m actually not disappointed because I know I didn’t perform my best on this test and could have done much better if I wasn’t sick or completely ridden with anxiety (it was so bad I spent the first 10 minutes of the essay section trying to get my hand to stop shaking so i could begin writing D: I was expecting like a 5 because I BS’d it so hard. The 8 surprised me a lot)

I wish I knew you could cancel your scores after the test beforehand but no one ever tells immigrant kids anything Hopefully it won’t look too awkward to colleges if I get a 400-500 point increase in two months?

Are any of you retaking? If so, when? I was hoping for May but I’m worried it’d mess up my AP studying. My dad says June would be best but I really wanted to take 2 of My SAT II’s then so I’d only have two more to take senior year. But it looks like I’ll retake in June and do my SAT II’s in the fall. It’s good because it gives me time to study (that’s really good since im self-studying everything) but based on how overwhelmed I got by this test, it may work to my detriment… Sigh

If it makes you feel better, nobody really tells kids born in the USA about canceling SAT scores either. Is that info on the college board site? Is it somehow restricted so that immigrants can’t access it?

@Hawkace, how am I the one being ostentatious/pretentious? @jumbatales is on here telling us how good he is while quoting made up practice tests in an attempt to reassure us of his giftedness. Also, I only have a humble 2220 which pales in comparison to that other guy’s consistent 2350s.

@SavedTatWhim You have consistently made somewhat sarcastic remarks so I’m labeling you as pretentious, but I could be wrong. He only mentioned it because you asked him. He didn’t do it out of the blue.

@SavedTatWhim #1 I have anxiety, clinically diagnosed anxiety. #2 I procrastinated until February to start studying so I started freaking out and overworked myself to the point of ignoring my health and getting sick #3 My parents sacrificed everything to give me this opportunity and we aren’t rich I can hardly look them in the eye when asking them to pay for anything so of course I’m going to be nervous w t f lol. Yes you come off as pretentious. Why would I make up practice tests like who does that. I never insulted your score and I don’t know why you’re being so contentious. I don’t consider myself to be “gifted” but I don’t have a crippling low self-esteem please get off your high horse

@Hawkace Thank you for the defense I’ve been following your threads for a while and I really admire you ha ha lol.

@jumbatales yay someone in the same boat as me… i really hope we can both increase to our desired scores! i think I will be retaking the SAT in June, and doing the SATIIs in the fall - I’m so scared of screwing up Math II and Bio though D: I would do the SAT in May, but I don’t have time to study due to school trips that are mandatory, and IB exams ;_;

@tebio - your score is fine as long as you don’t apply to schools that expect you to write. Those schools would never accept an applicant that only scored a 10 on the essay.

@tebio, @mmj133, @CHD2013: i actually know some1 in my community who retook a 2400 b/c he/she missed 1 or 2 questions in one of the sections…anyway i wouldn’t retake b/c i don’t think colleges specifically see ur essay score? but of course its up to you.
