Eli: No... one wrong and one omit will result in the same score.. once you get three wrong then your score will be reduced by another point.. (it rounds up)
one omit = 53
one wrong = 52.75 = 53

are you sure? b/c for PSATs on the writing (with the horrible curve--i know) -1 was 760 and -1.25 was 750

@jumpngo, Yeah I screwed up horribly on the May SAT and I am going to take it again in June with a whole new approach.

Anyways here a break down of my horrible scores:

M: 710 (I am really pssed off about this; should be 800)
CR: 680 (expected at least a 730)
W: 760 (missed 2 w/ 10 essay; thought I missed only 1...meh)

Total: 2150 (150 points short of my goal :()

^ read. read read read. I'm in a class that consists of solely reading and responding to nonfiction books, which I think helps. I'm also in ap lit, which is more reading. Another thing-- whenever you read a book and don't know what a word means, look it up.

Well i'm juust trying to push through the end of this year first. I have subjects in June so I have to start cramming. I'm not thinking of SATS until like June 16. I have a week of boys state before that... gahh.....RIGHT when we get out of school. but w/ez, it'll help me get into college..

I don't know how much my "success story" will help people. I didn't do much traditional preparation, besides taking a couple practice tests for both and going through the answers. I did read The Underground Guide for the SAT, which helped me more for relaxation and a general overview than hardcore review: but I think it would work really well for ALL of the above things for someone who really needed it. The truth is that I am an excellent standardized test taker, which does NOT mean that I am automatically smarter than everyone else.

screw you two!!! 760s and 770s...... gahhhhhhhhhhh. I really need help from you guys in writing though this summer. Feed, weren't you having trouble with CR?

i was actually very surprised at my 310 point improvement. but there were a few things that i did to prepare that i highly recommond.

i read Tom Clement's book "How to Write a Killer SAT Essay in 25 Minutes or Less". i think its available for purchase online. its about 100 pages. heres a link for the first couple chapters of the book.

basically, the book teaches you how to memorize your essay before you get the prompt. very handy. it moved my essay score from an 8 to 10, but im sure i couldve gotten a 12 if i hadnt made a very serious organization error.

for the math, i just didnt make any dumb mistakes. thats it. in march, i thought i got all the problems right but turns out i missed four and ended up getting 710 for the section. oh well..

CR: 730 (+50 from 680)
M: 720 (+10 from 710)
W: 760 (+180 from 580)
MC:75
Essay:10

1450/2210

Very Happy with the Writing Increase. It just shows that a few hours of studying can go a long way. Is there absolutely any reason to retake with a 2210? I'm not planning on it.

The problem with taking the SAT a third time is that it may confirm lower scores rather than the higher scores. I know the colleges use the higher scores for admission purposes, but admission counselors "see" all the scores. Unless you think you can improve or at least maintain the higher scores, I don't think I would retake. 1450/2210 is solid. (All scores in the 700s too.)
