Official May Sat Math Discussion

regarding my question about the constants k and m..thnx to all the peoeple who replied.

11 integers problem...

heres the solution or logic:

10 negative numbers and a big postive one
ie: -10,-9,-8....-1 + 56 should be equal to 1.

you must have at least one positive integer or else it will not work. try it? all 0's gives u 0 as the sum but 0 is not positive.

"did anyone get 13 for a question where it was like
2x + 3y = C"

i don't recall this question....do anyone know it and could tell me? thanks...CC is making me paranoid lol....

Was the question:
(x-8)(x-k)=x^2-5x+m

or was it:
(x-8)(x-k)=x^2-5kx+m

(x-8)(x-k)=x^2-5kx+m

the second one.

it was sixteen because eight and two have to multiply to it...this is the only one of the answers where the first degree terms added to a multiple of 5.

The one with the constants, x, k, and m-- that was a fill in, was it not? Or am I wrong?

no it was a mc, the answer was...b i think? either b or a. cant recall

Oh, okay. I can't remember what I put, but I feel like it might have been 16. I hope so. I made a mess of my work on that one, so it became a struggle.

b. 16 =)...

...read the manual lol

what was the question when the answer was 113?

113??

if you meant 13, then it was exp

someone wrote

"BTW did anyone get 113 for one of their answers?

Question went something like this (i think on section 3):
Median of 75 positive integers is 2. What could be the least sum of all the integers?"

i odnt remember that question...

was that experimental?

and the physics/chemistry one...was that experimental?

im freaking out because i had an experimental math...so i should recognize every problem...but i never saw a physics/chem one or the median of 75 positive integers!!!

do they offer 2 different experimental math sectionsss????

don't worry i had an experimental math and I never got the 75 one either

i had an experimental, but did not have this one.

anyways, 113 is the correct answer.
37 1's and 38 2's make the least sum: 37 + 38x2= 113.

It was experimental.

does anyone remember the ratio of arcs one with the pentagon? I got 2 to 3, but I heard from someone else that it was 4 to 5.

^
For that one, was there answer choice that was 3:2?

^ that one was really easy. it was 3:2. all u had to do u count the side (of the pentagon) for each arc= 3:2
