Does anyone know if/when Northwestern will email us officially telling us about when decisions will be released?
Irrespective of the decision tomorrow, we won’t be joining. After all that’s going on, will probably stick to our State flagship college - cheaper/closer.
@fakesnek Northwestern admissions said on social media that they’d email all applicants, as long as you don’t already have the portal open
@fakesnek Actually, im sorry, I think I misunderstood your question. I don’t know if they’ll officially tell us through email, although they posted it on official social media
@user_464093 I saw the social media announcement, but it didn’t mention the time of release.
i got deferred ED all the way back in december. do we think i have a chance in the RD round?
@kmgils yes, Northwestern defers 1-2% of applicants. No guarantees, but crossing my fingers for you!
anyone know what time decisions come out tomorrow?
possibly 5pm est
@kmgils not sure about the source but i read somewhere that northwestern defers around 60 kids and accepts around 30 of them… pretty good odds!
I took the ACT with writing and got a 31 (pretty decent in my book) because I took the SAT and only got a 1280 (1310 superscored). I also took the SAT subject tests because some of my schools required them or strongly recommended them, but I didn’t do too well (540 on lit and 600 on math). I sent them to the schools who required them obviously, but I also sent them to every school I applied to because I figured it would look good that I took them at all even if I didn’t get a highish score. Was that a mistake? At the time of applying I thought that showing the schools that I took the tests at all would be better but now I’m having second thoughts. Obviously I can’t do anything at this point but I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it.
@kmgils I was also deferred back in December, and I am really hoping for an acceptance tomorrow. Northwestern does defer a very select number of applicants; however, the admission rate of 50% for deferred applicants is outdated. I talked to a former UChicago who had knowledge of Northwestern admissions, and she said that for deferred applicants, the admit rate is around 20%. We have better odds than all of these new people applying during RD, but we should still be prepared for the possibility of a rejection. I wrote a letter of continued interest, so hopefully Northwestern will get a better of understanding of why I want to attend. Fortunately, in under 24 hours, we will get a finalized result, since my deferred admissions letter promised that it would be accept or reject with no option for a wait-list. Good Luck!
What is the percent waitlisted vs rejected? And how competitive is the waitlist?
Does anyone know what sort of impact having a parent who attended graduate school at Northwestern might have on an applicant’s chances?
@DrTobiasFunke Probably not at all. Only undergraduate kids are really considered legacies
I applied to NU. Said I would interview, received and email in January that there were no interviewers available in my area and haven’t heard a thing since.
Do I even have a chance?
@hsparent13 literally just wait another few hours
Does anyone know what time will the decision be out?
It was mentioned as 5PM Eastern
@sassycassie5896 That may have been a blunder. Those scores are very low and reflect poorly on your knowledge. They will not consider it if the other quantitative aspects of your application are high, but it might also weigh you down since admissions are holistic and about the entire picture. For example, if they rate applicants’ academic scores from 1 to 6, 1 being poor, then they will rate you an increment lower because of your SAT II scores. It may have a negative impact on your chances.
