Teacher Recommendation: English teacher and I had a pretty good relationship and she got to read my writing, which was important. She seemed to like me, she never really raved about me though (7.5/10). Second was from 10th grade Physics teacher, probably much weaker because I never took physics after that and it was a long time ago, but he’s a nice guy so I’m sure it was all right (7/10).

Why NU- 10/10. Wrote about how researching at NU familiarized me with the environment- wrote about metaphorically bumping into my future self on their campus, seeing myself on benches n stuff there. i emailed them a lot- probably too excessively and i think this hurt me in the end rather than helped. I also made two grammar errors in my application (it was in the additional info. portion and I was describing my science research - so i had copied and pasted from my old abstracts - and it got screwed up  ).

Applied for Financial Aid?: yes

Intended Major: science in human culture is what i wrote.

Reflection

Strengths: My why NU was ridiculously fire.

Weaknesses:
Not mentioning any accomplishments in my common app essay was probably a mistake, it was sort of just a self reflection of myself.
And I had a lot going on in my application that wasn’t explained – like ap art is a SUPER INTENSE class that requires lots of passion, but it wasn’t mentioned anywhere besides my course load. I think they might have not believed the fact that i did all those classes/leadership positions and got good grades. But I got in so :0

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
my stats were in their avg range- and my why NU and extra-currics were awesome.

General Comments:
TO FUTURE CLASSES ---- LITERALLY DON’T GO ON COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL IT WILL RUIN UR LIFE IF U R READING THIS STOP FREAKING OUT AND JUST LOG OUT!!! everything will work out the way it needs to.
:-*

Never thought I’d do this but these helped me a lot through my application process, so I feel like I should pay it forward

Essays (rating 1-10, details): Common App (8) because I talked about how much I utterly love playing the flute and how hard I’ve worked in that part of my life. I started working on it in June lol. NU Statement (4-5) because I literally like scribbled some nonsense down, and I talked about how they have the quarter system there which I absolutely adore and how I heard about Northwestern through College Night seminar they hosted at this Westin hotel close to me.

Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):
Teacher Rec #1: My physics teacher (Definitely a 10) Not only does he agree with my viewpoints, but he also saw how much I struggled and succeeded in his classroom. He’s also my favorite teacher and I’ve had him for two years.
Teacher Rec #2: My calculus teacher (8.5/10) Also liberal (go figure) and I’ve had her for two years as well. I didn’t struggle as much when I took her Pre-Cal class last year, but she still appreciated my work ethic.
Counselor Rec: I have no idea, yet probably bad because our counselors are so detached from anyone who isn’t legit doing drugs and having sex all the time.
Additional Rec: My band director (8/10) I’ve had this guy for the past 4 years, and he has really seen me mature, as well as the fact that I won so many awards in the band program.
Interview: Wasn’t invited for one.
