[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul] SAT did me in. Have had 8 or so family members attend ND (no legacy, unfortunately) and well-known uncle within ND community and so this is a strong disappointment. Higher test scores would have helped for certain. Not overly surprised by the decision–definitely was a reach school. I have a strong feeling that the decision would have been different if I had a stronger SAT or taken the ACT with a high score.

I think the point is that an applicant is (ethically) obligated to withdraw RD apps once an acceptance via ED comes in. Unless Vandy had the latest ED notification date known to man, the applicant either forgot or, well, chose not to withdraw those apps. Never should have still been in the game to receive RD results.

Everyone is 100% right regarding ED ethics. I posted these results because I am proud of my child (first applying to college and new to the process) and we’ve valued the information shared by others on this site. My post does not explain the misunderstandings and assumptions we made that led to an RD after an ED. 100% of these applications were submitted by December 1st (ED/non-binding EA/RD). We notified the HS the morning after ED acceptance; we were told the counselor (who was new and has already left!) would withdraw the remaining applications. We confirmed a mid-year report was sent only to the ED school. Receiving RD results on Friday was a COMPLETE surprise. We are following up with the HS and sending our own withdrawal notices. Understand the expressed concerns – wishing everyone the best.

Meston. Dont blame the high school. It was your responsibility to follow up. You mostly likely took spots away from other students.

Knowing this, you have some nerve for posting the acceptances. You have some ego.

Status: Waitlisted

Stats:
GPA: 4.3 W 4.0 UW
SAT: 720 CR 670 M 640 W
SAT 2: 660 Math 2 (bleh) 680 US History
ACT: 30

-Future Business Leaders of America
-7 years altar server

Awards:
-Commended Student
-Academic Letter, Principal’s List (Something my school does. It’s like a varsity letter, but for getting Principal’s list all year [All A’s all year])
-English 3 Honors Excellence Award (Highest grade of anyone taking any English 3 Honors class)
-Pre-Calculus Honors Effort Award (Like the English award, but for ‘effort’, usually either the 2nd highest grade or the teacher’s favorite)
-Computer Science Effort Award
-St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience (I don’t know what this is or how I earned it)
-$2000 a year scholarship for Academic Excellence

Additional:
-Took 3 summer classes at Stanford (actually living on Campus)
-Legacy (Father and Uncle, Mother went to St. Mary’s across the street. This was back before the school was co-ed.)
-White Male from Washington D.C.

Honestly, I’m disappointed but not too surprised. My scores don’t really match up with a lot of people who have gotten in. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get off the waitlist, that would be much appreciated, but with schools like Notre Dame, waitlisted is a kinder way of saying no. Congratulations to everyone who got in, I hope you have a fantastic time at Notre Dame :]

[]Awards: nothing special
[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul] I got a likely a couple weeks back and will be at the Reilly Weekend. I’m just happy to have such an incredible option. If financial aid comes through, I may be taking my talents to South Bend next year. For future applicants, if you’re of faith, let it shine through in your application. If I could go back and do anything differently in my applications, I would have been a little more down to earth and shown who I am as opposed to who I will be. The best person you can be on your application is yourself; unless you’re an awful person, I suppose.

Students who get accepted or wait listed do they get any credit applied for AP courses they took in HS towards their Degree program…??

Congrats to all those who were accepted!! I hope to join you all next year as the incoming class of 2018 :)
