General Comments: Everyone's really happy!

at this point based on the acceptances above it looks like ND's favorite part of the app is SAT score. i'm kinda worried that my 1460/2120 might not cut it for RD :/

what are you smoking? 1460 (what ND uses for the score) is good.

argh, it doesn't look like they left much room for lowly rd kids, congrats to everyone though

Like I said earlier iskan I would be more than willing to trade your ND acceptance for my BC acceptance. If it could only work that way.

I see that some of the acceptances included a ND Scholar designation. I note that Nameless, who was designated a ND Scholar is waiting on the honors designation. What does the ND Scholar designation mean and how is it different from the other acceptances?

To borrow from a previous thread on what an ND scholar designation means, here are the following quotes:

A Notre Dame Scholar is an honor given to the top 20% of our admitted pool. That means that those students had the highest class ranks, GPAs, and standardized test scores.
...

Approximately the top 20% of our admitted students (based on academic credentials) are named Notre Dame Scholars. Notre Dame Scholars who qualify for need-based aid may receive a preferential financial aid package, depending upon their eligibility for aid. We also recruit our Notre Dame Scholars to join our admissions ambassador programs.
...

Notre Dame Scholars who also have demonstrated financial need will receive financial aid with less in self-help, and therefore more in scholarship aid.

As to the person waiting to find about about admissions to ND's Honors Program here is my firsthand knowledge:

The program is only open to those students who on their application indicated Arts and Letters or Science Majors...

Normally there are about 30 students chosen from each college so approximately 60 freshman enter the program each year.

As Freshman you will take a 2 semester ALHN Honor Seminar course....it was ALHN 195/196 before the school went to five digit course codes last year...

As a Freshman you will also take a Philosphy Seminar class.

Both of the aforementioned classes, the ALHN and Philo Seminars are taken with other Freshman HP classmates...

The AL faculty advisor is professor Delaney, the Science one is professor Hahn, both are great guys and easy to deal with.

For more info about program requirements or whatnot you can go to www.nd.edu/~alhonors and check out the website. Or post additional questions/PM message me and I'll try to answer them, I could go on for a lot longer, but that's enough basic info on these subjects.
