OFFICIAL Notre Dame EA Class of 2010 Results

Nemo, thanks a lot for the info! I am interested in the Honors Program, but I think I have a problem. I'm pretty sure I indicated an engineering major on the app, because at the time I had no idea what I wanted to get into and figured I would decide later (since ND has the First Year of Studies Program). Are you certain that you have to have chosen a major in the College of Arts or Sciences on the application to be considered? (I understand that the program is for students in those areas only, but would they at least notify me if they thought I was qualified despite my choosing an engineering major?) I'll probably give ND a call in the next couple of days to straighten things out, but anything you can tell me would help. Thanks again!

normally they notify you that you are being considered for the program because there were an additional essay or two they asked for you to write...

to clarify my above message. When I was notified several years about being accepted EA, within a week or two I was notified via another letter that I was being considered for admission to the Honors Program. In this letter it mentioned how my information from my admissions packet was being passed along to them and asking that I write up a short (less than 500 word) statement and to send it to the mailing address that I was provided with. In April was when I was notified that I had been accepted to the HP.

That honors program sounds awesome. I bet it's really hard to get into, though. Do you have to be invited to apply?

Not trying to be dense, but are Notre Dame Scholars and Honors different? Are they available in Engineering? Would I already know if I was designated as such?

Notre Dame Scholar is a designation that you will find on your acceptance letter if you have been designated as such. There are threads on this forum that explore what benefits it exactly offers and they are hinted at in the course of this thread's postings. Suffice to say it is a recognition and can benefit with regards to Financial Aid consideration.

The Arts and Letter's/Science Honors Program is outlined in a few of my prior posts, the details can be found at the website I cite above. As far as I know it is still a by-invitation program.

It is also possible to earn honors on your diploma in a couple of other ways. This is perhaps a little off-topic but whatever...1) For instance, it is possible to graduate with varying levels of honors cited on your diploma based on GPA cutoffs...2) Many of the majors (I know of English, Philosophy, Classics, and a few otherws) have departmental honors which it is possible to earn and have cited on your diploma providing you meet the specific requirements of the individual department.

As far as what the Engineering dept might offer, get on the ND website and search around to see if you can come up with anything. My knowledge of this college is limited to my freshman year roomate who was an engineer...course he liked the bottle a "little too much" ( but those are stories for other times) and didn't go to class that often, so I don't have a whole lot of info to pass on regarding engineers.

Just thought I would resurrect this old thread to let everyone compare themselves to last year's EA group.

I won't list all the info...'

Congratulations to your son!

It is nice to get an acceptance in time for the holidays (and you still have time to get the tshirt by Christmas)!

Congratulations, Irishkid! What an absolutely cool thing! :)

Let's hope for lots more good news in the coming days...

I'll bet your daughter is quite happy about the timing thing--this may be an ideal window of disclosure for just about anything :)

Yay, I was really hoping that you would hear good transfer news, though I can't believe it is this early! Did they call you out of curiousity?

All of a sudden, so many people pop up on this board with acceptance decisions.

It's so bizarre.

And everyone's excellent. Every single one of them.

oops, wrong year
