**Official Notre Dame Regular Decision Class of 2021 Thread**

@nduclaunc that is what helped me! I got into BC this week and I have been focusing on the great things at BC more than ND so that if I do not get into ND I am not too heart broken

Great strategy!! @mimimo7890 :)I am trying to do the same. If you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats? / why do you think your chance is so low? I have a 28ACT. That’s what I view as my kryptonite basically.

@nduclaunc I have a 30 ACT and a 3.75 GPA so I don’t think my chances are too high either, but my essays were pretty decent so we will wait and see!

@mimimo7890 I’d say my essays were my strongest point as well. Regardless, BC is an achievement and good indicator for you. :slight_smile: excited to see how it all unfolds.

Saw a few comments about financial aid and some indicating that they only filled out the fasfa, but not the CSS profile or IDOC. It is my understanding and there are steps listed on the financial aid website that ND expects you to complete not only the fasfa, but also the CSS profile and they do prefer documents be submitted through IDOC. There are forms in IDOC that applicants must complete and submitting attesting to their income or lack thereof. The CSS profile although not required by many schools is still expected by ND to adequately determine an appropriate amount of aid, in some cases you may be hurting you financial aid opportunities by not submitting. It is true that some may choose not to apply for fa, however I’m of the opinion that you never know when your family circumstances may change during the course of the year for unknown reasons so it would seem in your better interest to apply so that the fa office has a good picture of your current situation in the event that happens. You can always decline aid. I declined work study and student loans for my older son because I didn’t want him to incur student loan debt unless absolutely necessary. You just want to keep your options open…but follow the instructions by the school, they want the fasfa and the CSS profile.

Yeah, Notre Dame didn’t send out any email (at least not to me) about the CSS Profile but one of my friends mentioned it and I looked into it, and realized all my private schools except one required that it be filled out and submitted. I thought it would ruin my chances of getting in or getting financial aid but there wasn’t a specific deadline (just said before end of february or something like that) but if not, then all that means if you will get your financial aid award a little later than normal (doesn’t affect your acceptance). They only wanted it earlier so you could receive your financial aid with your acceptance.

Does anyone know if your midyear report isnt sent in on time if that will affect the colleges decision? I’m freaking out about this so much!

@nduclaunc if you don’t mind me asking, what is your GPA and how’d you do on the SAT? I also applied to UNC and currently awaiting my decision. Thanks!

Is being Catholic a huge advantage for Notre Dame? Possible dumb question but have there been many Catholics who were rejected?

A huge number of Catholic applicants are rejected. With that said, many are accepted as well. That’s just the reality of the situation, because more than half of American High Schoolers who are Catholic and in the 99th percentile apply to Notre Dame.

I wouldn’t think being Catholic would be an “advantage”, but I know that ND emphasizes being a “force for Good”, and they love devout Catholic students who will transform the world and the Church. @blue221

@DryMango thanks for your helpful response!

@drewpy16 28ACT, 1340SAT, (didn’t send) and 3.9 GPA.

However UNC is hugely decided on if you are in or out of state. They can only have 15% of the incoming class be OOS.

Decisions have to be coming tomorrow right?

@nduclaunc woah, 15% ?
I didn’t know this, is there a source you can cite for this. If I had known that, I would have suggested my son not apply since that would be an extreme indicator of application chance. With his within range grades and extra-curricular activities, that would not be enough to cut it. You’d have to have monster grades and activities to overcome a 15% entry chance.

edit oops sorry, I thought you meant ND, I re-read what you wrote and now saw that you said UNC. My bad :slight_smile:

@reformedman I wouldn’t be too hasty to believe that claim. I’ve never read/heard about UNC stipulating only 15% of incoming class can be OOS. How can they ensure that only 15% of the class accept their offers of admission if they are out of state? Seems unsupported to me.
I am out of state, and I applied Early Action to UNC this year. I was accepted with the Excel Research Grant. I know plenty of other people who got accepted OOS.

@ScienceGal1023 my DS didn’t apply to UNC but since we are on the topic, I looked at the common data set for UNC and C7 shows that they don’t care about Geographical location.

@nduclaunc is your GPA weighted or unweighted?

ugh what if decisions still don’t come out tomorrow though that would kill me

@drewpy16 3.9 W, 3.85 UW
@reformedman & @ScienceGal1023 here is one of many articles supporting this: http://www.wral.com/cap-on-out-of-state-students-costs-unc-millions/15733895/

This is indeed a rule. UNC in the INCOMING Class may only have 15% be out of state. Also, if you don’t believe me, just browse the UNC 2021 thread. I researched a lot before I applied. This is fact.

**edit- apparently it is 18% not 15%. Slight difference. Data in article is from UNCs media hub.

I looked at F1 from the common data set.

Apparently you are right. It’s very interesting but I’m sure glad we didn’t apply. There’s no chance we would have been accepted with a nearly above average application. That school appears to be best for in-state or excellent oos applicants.
