I think we should discuss this...how would the music be an elemental force? I mean, of course it could be, but I don't see any clear-cut connection...could somebody elaborate? I mean, why would it be elemental?

I put sth that it is something that weighs him down or something...cuz the drumming is a short, abrupt sound and the fact that it is recurrent accentuates this...also, the fact that the drumming brings to his memories things that depress him and "bring him down" connects the monotonous, dull sound of the drum (it was a drum rite?) with the event...

True and something was the answer I was thinking of.

The trumpet-playing was an elemental force because of the passage where he says "it was pain and hate and despair and hope and comfort and love" etc. It causes him to feel all these emotions at once and sweeps through his psyche, causing him to lose awareness of anything but the drum beat and his memories.

lol, really no idea if it was referring to the rain...
also, sweeping through him could be the same as weighing him down...i mean, in the end, the music starts at a moment of inertia and idleness, and the excerpt finishes with him mentally weakened, mentally crushed, so it could be both in that sense (after all, literature offers tons of different interpretations)

but dane, my question remains unanswered: why elemental?

i cant believe i managed to skip 1 whole section. im so sad because the other sections i was confident and finished them easily...for some reason i remember seeing a stop sign at the bottom of the page so i guessed that was why i stopped...do you guys know how many questions were in the music section? and also, was the music section the last section? i am scared now because what if i skipped one whole page and bubbled in wrong?

which passage did you skip? chances are, you skipped the last one, so you should be fine in terms of bubbling in the wrong ones..also, at least you know NOW and you can cancel your scores..

lets review all the passages together...i need to backtrack...i remember doing the one about the blue sky and water? the iron horse? pygma? the lady and joseph? and also the lilac and the oak tree? am i leaving any passages out? add on please!

and to people who are smart...do you guys think its possbile to get an 800 if i skipped 1 passage and got like 1-2 wrong in the other ones?

and im hesitating on cancelling scores...this is my first and last time to take them =(

Ok, if you skipped one passage (that is around 10 questions) and you are CONFIDENT that you did not screw up and did not have more than 1 or 2 in the other ones, 800 is (of course) out of the question, but you're still in the 700s..

i also took math2C and i dont think i want to cancel that score...im curious: did any of you guys get a passage about the color blue? It mentioned the word blue a lot and wa sa reference to the sky.

if you've had decent english teachers, it's probably best to just pick the book with the most practice tests. there isn't a lot of studying involved. all I did was brush up on my poetry lit terms and take the 2 practice tests in PR, and I felt confident.

"for just i put true and something...
did anyone else put elemental force for the music?"

I also picked the answer with "true" and something else. I'm almost certain "right and correct" was a trick, because it's the common modern defition we use. It was emphasizing that true beauty can be brief or whatever.

I also picked elemental force. the music took over and he couldn't escape it. "wanted to cover his ears...blah." it was a lot more than a burden, which I see as something of lesser annoyance that is carried with a person for a long time. when the music was being played, it immediately had a strong effect.. elemental force.

I ruled out burden because, in spite of his inner turmoil, the drum beat remained steady. Even though "elemental" wasn't the word I would have picked, I justified that answer because of the phrase "sweeping through". I suppose we won't know for certain until the test gets back.
