i got the 8.42 but I wasn't positive

I think I got 8.42.

How did you guys get 8.42? Wasn't the problem similar triangles taken thrice, so that you wound up with 25*sqrt(2)/(2)^3? (4.42)

I feel doubts now.
I can't remember the exact question (I am not hinting - just stating).

It was an isoceles right triangle with sides 25-25-25*sqrt(2). It asked to connect the midpoints of each side to form a new triangle. Then you had to connect the sides of that new triangle to form another new triangle. It asked for the hypotenuse of the newest triangle.

You're right, there are three similar triangles, but the third triangle is 2^2 smaller dimensions-wise than the first one.
25*sqrt(2)/4 = 8.84 (not 8.42 as I thought it was).

Dammit, I got the same result when I was checking the answer this morning. So we're both wrong?

Seems that's the way it is.
I am not 100% sure.

Yeah, I've gone over this problem so many times both on pencil-and-paper and in my head. 8.84 must be the answer.

Ah well...3 wrong so far. I guess if I got the rest correct, I can still have a 770. Either way, though, I'm taking math level 2 in January, so if my math 1 scores aren't stellar, I guess I can make up for it with Math Level 2 and, if I really feel bad, a math level 1 retake.

wohooo I totally guessed!
