Official November 4 SAT Math Thread

there are four letters in a bag

A,B,C,D...

What is the probability of getting in the order of A,B,C,D..

1/4 * 1/3 * 1/2 * 1= 1/24?? is that right?

you got it.

What is the experimental for math?

I had a rectangle vertex problem

the rs=something then r^2st....

um..grid in with like slope of line between .5 and .55

didn't have a vertex problem..

what did you guys get for one about equilateral triangle?
it asked for the line that had four times as much length as AC or something..

was it just the whole side of the biggest equilateral triangle?

there are four letters in a bag

A,B,C,D...

What is the probability of getting in the order of A,B,C,D..

1/4 * 1/3 * 1/2 * 1= 1/24?? is that right?

i thought it was how many ways are there to arrange the letters?

no it was like this..

N,P,W,R...

it asked for

R,P,W,N or to that extent..in other words it was in different combo then the first one...so i remember clearly..sorry bro..

does it make a difference that its in a different order isnt it still 1 out of 24 because R P W N only appears 1nce

its simple guys, 4!

how is that 1/4?

alright. did anyone manage to get the answer to this one?

(a^3)^x = 9^y

if i remember correctly, all three variables were positive integers, and we were supposed to find the maximum value for x.

you mean minimum value for a...i think it was 3?

there are four letters in a bag

A,B,C,D...

What is the probability of getting in the order of A,B,C,D..

1/4 * 1/3 * 1/2 * 1= 1/24?? is that right?

i thought it was how many ways are there to arrange the letters?

so who's right??

is 1/24 correct?!?

did anyone get the cheese question?

it was a huge cylinder 2 inches high (of cheese). A piece was cut out at a 30 degree angle. That piece weighed half a pound. So what is the total weight of the chunk of cheese.

--My response was:

(30/360) x 0.5 (PS: This was number four)

but I can't help but think I answered it wrong, I didn'teven use one of the givens (2 inches high) and I know it wasn't there for nothing.
Help please.

For that one I just did 360/30 = 12
Then multiply 12 times 0.5. It was asking for the weight of the whole block uncut right?
so yeah, 12*0.5 = 6

for the f(x) find k problem. did the problem say that it couldn't equal 0? i put 0 and now i feel really dumb. i hate making these stupid mistakes.

oh, and what number did you get for x on the number line problem....0, 1/x, 2/x, 5?

I believe X was 3/5.

ditto. 3/5.

ive taken teh sat twice before... got 730/720 on the math and this time i think i did a lot worse on the math... there wer ea bunch of tricky problems... maybe its cuz im in stats so im not taking a rel math class, but still, i thought it was way harder than other math sections ive taken

(a^3)^x = 9^y

the question was asking for the minimum value of a if a, x, and y are integers.

i put a =1....because couldn't both x and y be zero?
(1^3)^0 = 9^0

Oh damn. You're right. I put 3 for that one. Damn. So far that's 2 wrong. Not looking so hot after I originally thought I aced it. And both I got wrong because I forgot to count 0. LOL OWNED.
