Official October ACT Science Thread

was it 1991 and yes 8%

How did you find an average without knowing HOW MANY TREES OF EACH TYPE?!

Can someone answer that question?

They only gave you percent of the trees… I said you can’t determine because you don’t know how many trees there are…It’s possible I’m misreading the question though.

@ NitroHawk

Ph wise: HCl < HBr < HI
Electronegativity wise: CL > BR > I

Same here snowolf. On both posts.

What was the average question? I don’t even remember it…

light moderation for sure
who eve agreed with me yeah i was about to put unfertilized eggs with the male then i realized males dont have eggs lol

i also got 1991

the question- the numbers listed the type of tree, and the AVERAGE percent of trees being damaged. it said the average trees were damaged____ (light/med/high). you probably misread it.

For clarification, the answer to that one was females with unfertilized eggs right?

@ Vince011
On the passage about Mars and CH4 content, they asked a question that required the knowledge of Mars’s average CH4 content to be 10 ppbv. I forget the wording of the question, but my answer was 100.

^oh…I think I put light :/

i think so dman. i don’t exactly remember…

@Vince011
light is correct.

thank god…I have a 36 science going right now and I hope it stays that way…my reading will pull my score down enough. I have no idea why I can get science done in 20-25 minutes but I can never finish the reading

Just to make sure…An absorption rate of two absorbed more light than then something that was 0.0, right? That wasn’t an exact question but there was a question about the absorbption rate and somehow I was worried that I could ahve ahad it backawrds…

Was the answer to the green solution thing that it was a mixture of both?

@user8324

i put down a mixture of both.

@Snowolf:

Answer this question: What percent of the ants here were killed?

100% of the black ants died.
80% of the red ants died.
40% of the dark red ants died.

You can’t just average these perecentages together - unless you assume that there is the same number of ants each.

I assumed they put a “cannot be determined” answer for that reason.

I interpreted it as the question asking what the majority was, not the actual average.

yea i said nvm because i had it right in my head, its just the thing w/pH and depth how you have to invert your thinking, increasing acidity is decreasing pH, i know you said this earlier but i guess i never internalized it

there was a question about ants?

the chemistry was super easy…

the potential energy increased
1991
8%
8deg to 11deg
.9cm
increase then decrease
unfertilized females
60 males marked why??
acetic acid answer A
bike a/b was answer A
the guy didnt move because slope = zero
mix of blue/yellow
10x for poplar tree
the rocks stuff student 2 was the one that wasnt underground
100 for 10billion parts
wasn’t even distribution on mars (more to this answer)
the atmosphere on mars was similar to the way earth’s atmosphere
22% for frog
cannot be determined
opposites charges attracts
3,4,5 didnt start at point P
biker A chart = dotted sloping up
mountain building (wrong probs)
x = I

No, I’m just showing how averaging “percentages” without knowing quantity is a fallacious thing to do.
