Congratulations, AlexVaMom. That is wonderful news.

Congratulations AlexVaMom! You're done!

deepsouthmom - My experience with EA/ED is that schools are unable to give you an exact notification date because it depends on when they have reviewed all their early applications and finalized their decisions. These dates tend to vary from year to year even for the same school. That said, my daughter received the following information in an email from Stanford:

We are aiming to provide you with an admission decision no later than December 15. We will communicate with you regarding your admission decision by both mail and email to the addresses you provided to us on your application.
[/quote]
Since December 15 is a Saturday I'm guessing they will send out email notifications on Friday December 14 and mail out snail mail notifications on the same day.

S1 graduated from Notre Dame and S2 is currently a student at Princeton. Both applied and were admitted early. Neither sent out any RD apps, nor did they have any ready to go. Good Luck if you can get your kids to do that.

AlexVAMom - My son heard early decision for WM the day after Thanksgiving in 05 - are they giving you a specific date? I bet you will hear soon. My son is a junior, OOS from MA, but he loves WM and it turns out to be a great place for him despite our worries freshman year. Good luck to your son!

Oops - how did I miss that acceptance, AlexVAMom? Go Tribe!!!! Congratulations!!! Enjoy the holidays!!!!!

Just a quick thanks to all of the parents on this site--while I just recently started posting, I had been reading various threads for months and found incredibly helpful information about the whole crazy college selection and application process. Plus it gave me a place to vent my anxieties without bothering my already stressed kid. I'm glad its over--but I'll be back. I also have a high school freshman D!

Congratulations, AlexVaMom!!!

Congrats VaMom!
From another mother in waiting.

S is anxiously awaiting EA decision from MIT.

My son applied EA to Lewis & Clark and Goucher last year. While he had gotten a yes from L&C before we left for vacation (Dec 23), he didn't get his Goucher yes until we returned from our holiday. Mail takes longer to get to VT though. They had a nice little window on their envelope so you could see it was a yes before opening it. I remember the anxiety.

Congrats AlexVAMom. D#2 applied ED to JHU, she's counting down every day, has been since the app went in. I'm trying to ignore that it's December 6 already.

Congrats AlexVAMom!
D (#1 kid) decided to apply ED to Penn rather last minute (OK, 1.5 weeks before deadline). Legacy/faculty so potentially better chance than most (and not applying to Wharton, Huntsman, for science etc etc). Tuition benefits make this much more appealing than another private that is maybe even a better fit.

What a relief AlexVAMom. Congratulations!
S2 has applied ED to Pomona. His counselor said they emailed for 1st quarter grades last week and that got us all worked up. He has a second choice that he loves as well so if he receives a rejection he'll apply ED II to that school. S1 is a senior at Oberlin.

Congrats to AlexVAMom and I'm with you pianomom. D applied ED to Pomona as well and the waiting is completely unnerving. Any idea when they might send out the letters? D considered calling/emailing to ask the admissions office but didn't want to get dinged as a nag!

srsmom,
Based on what I've read from previous years on the Pomona forum, it appears that a letter may arrive anywhere between the 14th and the 20th. I feel like a kid on a long car trip asking, "How many more miles?"

pianomom and srsrmom -

D received her ED letter around December 13 two years ago. Got my fingers crossed for you two!

DS has three EAs in the hopper, the state flagship went out at the end of Nov., and another one is going out next week. How many he sends after EA is up in the air. He is remarkably calm about the whole thing. I'm not sure he even knows when the rumored announcement dates are, though I have been reading every tea leaf. :)

My S applied EA to MIT and we're looking for a "no" any day now. He's an awesome student, I couldn't have asked for anything more, but no one from his school has yet been admitted to MIT.

He's already been admitted to GaTech has a great shot at CMU, Northwestern, solid for Penn and Brown. It will be a relief to get through a "No" and be done with it! Yeah, we're a little perverse.

My D still doesn't know what day she will hear from Stanford or exactly how. She was told she'd be notified by email, but does that meant she'll get a password to log into a site, or just an email? Some of her friends applying to other schools have already been sent passwords and a date and time to log in.

A few years ago Harvard sent out their EA decisions by email. Many servers read them as spam and they never got to the applicants! I think they've figured out how to get around this now.

Also waiting SCEA for Stanford. I find the e-mail thing somewhat unsettling. Although my older kids heard from a few schools via a log-on, most were in snail-mail and you did not know what day it would be.

My D's ED school is so low tech, they send snail mail. DD is climbing walls and counting minutes until the 15th. I have mixed feelings. If she gets in, the stress is gone, but there are much better schools for her out there!
