[] Why I think I was accepted, etc: My interview was probably the worst I had for any school. I didn't really connect with the guy. Penn wasn't at the top of my list, and I think that might've shown.
[] Other thoughts: I'm not really disappointed at this. It was the only school that kept me from saying that I got accepted to all of my schools (MIT and 2 other Ivies did accept me), but I also can still say I didn't get rejected. UPenn just wasn't as good a fit, in retrospect. I'm going to decline my spot on the waiting list.

*Decision:Rejected *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1940
[] SAT IIs: Math 1: 770 Math 2: 690

[] Other thoughts: It all depends on luck. And mind you luck rhymes with the "F" word :p

Decision: Rejected

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2310 (C: 750, M: 760, W: 800)
[] SAT IIs: Literature: 730, Math Level 2: 710, US History: 630
[] GPA: 4.33 W
[] Rank: na
[] Other stats: Was homeschooled for eleven years, transferred to private school in PA to take APs in senior year
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Excellent, but my essay on boot camp and the military probably didn't go over well at a liberal school like Penn
[] Teacher Recs: Very good
[] Counselor Rec: Never saw it
[li] Hook (if any): Music (although Penn only employs part-time music faculty, so it's not a hook there; basically, they hire music teachers depending on the demand)
[/li]

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NJ
[] School Type: Private school in PA, got 3 kids into Penn ED, but only 1 RD (out of 15)
[] Ethnicity: Asian American :(
[] Gender: Male

[/ul]Extracurriculars: Great in my opinion, but the military focus was probably not Penn's cup of tea.

Why I think I was accepted/deferred: Just too many apps like me, great SATs and GPAs, excellent extracurriculars. Unfortunately, I'm not a URM, my school was blacklisted after they already took 3 (out of class of 130) ED, musical talent doesn't mean crap to Penn, I'm not a recruited athlete, and I don't have connections in admissions. Also, interest shown does NOT matter no matter what others might say.

Other thoughts: Congrats to those who got in. I'm not unhappy at all because I got into WUSTL and Johns Hopkins and am still waiting on my overall number one choice, Notre Dame. The only bad part is that I was planning to use Penn as a tool to get more grants from other schools. Oh well.
