General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Congrats to all accepted, and for the defers and rejects college doesn't define who you are. If my friends didn't get into their dream college, it wouldn't in any way affect my opinion and esteem of them. If you judge your friends based upon whether or not they get into their dream college, well, your sad in my opinion...

good luck to all, see you soon...

TO THOSE WHO DON'T THINK THEY CAN GET IN: i honestly did not think i'd get in, esp bc i haven't taken many APs (school doesn't really offer many) and my standardized test scores are lowish for penn, esp for SEAS. just make sure you strengthen everything else you have complete control over (ESSAYS!!) and good luck :D

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I only did this because of reading everyone else's from last year. While writing this I realize if I had read this only a few months ago, I would have thought I had no chance against someone like myself. For those that feel daunted, you will end up looking a lot sweeter than you ever imagined once on paper.

And as someone whose GPA was not overwhelming and had very high standardized test scores without studying once, I will maintain that UPenn must take a very holistic look at applications.

I want to wish everyone who got deferred and those who will apply regular decision GOOD LUCK. For deferees, don't give up and make sure the adcoms know who you are. For new applicants, pour your heart out in your application and make it the most accurate representation of yourself. Don't give them a fake picture because they will know. Good luck, once again and I'll keep all of you in mind.

These aren't hooks. They're not even uncommon.

Okay HOPEFULLY this doesn't sound too mean/evil/whatever but LOL I just wanna make myself feel better about my deferral.

Soooo last year, Penn CAS admitted 2 people early and then 1 more got into M&T early. THIS year, there were 4 CAS applicants from my school early including me. 3 of them had legacy. 3 of them got in. 1 of them deferred.

Guess which ones got in? Guess which ones I am? LOL

However, other than that whole silly thing, I'm actually okay with the way things turned out overall. Like a lot of my friends got into sick schools, and, even better, nobody from my school got into Columbia early (my first choice, though I went early to Penn since I THOUGHT it would be more realistic). So LOL my attitude may be silly/evil because hopefully things will turn out well in regular.

Also, if the admissions officers didn't think I was qualified, I would've been rejected on the spot. I mean, my GPA and II's were quite low, but deferral means that they looked past that and DID read my essays and recs and will read them again. I'd like to think that I was deferred since Penn accepted 4 early from my school (out of seven applicants -- three accepted CAS, one accepted engineering, 2 deferred wharton and me deferred CAS) which is DEF more than usual (like last year was 3 early and the M&T one was our valedictorian). So I'm just hoping that Penn feels like they were accepting too many early from my school and MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE I'll have a slight edge in regular.

In a perfect world that is.

LOL!!

Hope this didn't sound too scathing or ridiculous. Love y'all alums, I know you're all TOTES qualified for Penn, and seriously, I have double to Cornell and they did donate this year. So yeah I'm KINDA a hypocrite... :-DD

CONGRATS ALL ADMITTEES! GL ALL DEFERRALS! DONT WORRY ALL REJECTIONS (omg number 84 how did that happen?!?!?) YOU WILL FIND SOMEWHERE GREAT!!

P.S. I've been TOTALLY searching this thread for my would-be-Penn soulmate. It's between one of the M&T admits and the Catholic schoolboy...hmmmm.

heygirlhey, I am that "Catholic schoolboy?"

.........HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!!
(pray for me for reg, you go to Cath school, so you have pull up there!!)
