Same here. Even if I couldn't get in, I'd really like camelia or you to get in... :)

thank you so much, guys. i'm tearing up again reading these posts, honestly... (clearly i already cry much too easily, but even so)

You don't cry too much...this is a really emotional time no matter what the outcome. Reading this thread makes me really upset (even though I got in), because I've just gotten to know all of you (camelia, jon, ungst, lennni) as amazing, eloquent, accomplished, ambitious people, and I wish that I could take you all to Princeton with me. I know that it "doesn't make sense" to keep posting on this board, but I sincerely hope that you all do, because I do consider you my CC 'friends,' and I will miss you all.

Congratulations to those who have been accepted, and to those rejected or waitlisted, you WILL go on to do great things! Give your all no matter where you matriculate.

I was the parent one year ago and when my DD received her acceptance. I thought, right. You're going to turn down two full rides at very reputable state schools for Princeton? Their financial aid offer was very generous, but it certainly wasn't free. We decided to go ahead and do April Hosting before accepting the full ride at UDel. Princeton sold us hook, line and sinker. My husband is a skeptic, and even he came away from that weekend saying that Princeton does college like nobody else. It has been the right decision, no regrets. We'll have to wait for new carpet, car and furniture, but that doesn't compare to the education she is getting there. Princeton has already afforded her wonderful educational opportunities in her first year. A trip to Hong Kong with Glee Club, a trip to Yellowstone with her freshman seminar.

Many of you will have offers for full rides at other universities and you may elect to take advantage of that. That's wonderful! But you and your parents should try to attend April Hosting before you make your decision. You need to see how badly Princeton wants you to attend and then how much they will help you succeed for the rest of your life.

to j07: dude, if you keep talking like that even i'll break out in tears! sniffs
but thanks for being so kind/positive/awesome... (this is starting to sound like i'm dying or something)

anyhoo, when you finally get a facebook, i'll hunt you down and add you. hahaha

rejected...didn't realize how distraught i'd be

Does anyone know when decisions are expected to arrive in the mail?

ahhhh okay i'd like to take this opportunity to say that i really can not fricken believe i got accepted.. it's a bit overwhelming and hard to digest!!

Gee, I don't want to sound bitter, but I just don't understand why college admissions are so random/unfair. A girl who used to go to my school got in ED as a legacy and she, in my opinion, did not deserve to get into even a cornell-caliber school. And at the same time, jon and camelia get rejected? It makes no sense.

thykingdomcome, congratulations!!!!!!

Usually, some enterprising young person takes this task upon themselves, but no one has done so. Therefore I have compiled a list of results, which I hope is accurate. While I wish you all could have been successful, 34 of 88 of you have reported being accepted, a 39% acceptance rate, which is about 6 times higher than the projected RD rate. Congratulations to those accepted, and for those who were not, you will surely enroll at another great school that you will love.

Are you serious x3rose? Princeton's financial aid program is incredible!! Surely they can help you out if you're not able to afford it!! Call up the office or contact them online: http://www.princeton.edu/main/admission-aid/aid/

Good luck! :) I'm sooo excited guys!!

[] Senior Yr. Courseload: People at my school typically take four A levels, and I'm one of three who are taking the maximum five.
[] Number of Apps from Your School: 1. I'm the first ever.
[] Common or Princeton App?: Common
[] Other stats: Top five in the UK for Classics GCSE (my potential major)
[/ul]Subjective:[ul][] ECs listed on app: Writing, horseback riding, volunteering at local elementary schools, archaeology, music, acting/directing/lighting.
[] Job/Work Experience: Work at an early morning childcare group before school.
[] Essays (subject and responses): 1. Life with an autistic brother. 2. My struggle to overcome shyness.
[] Teacher Recs: Pretty good, I think, although not 'perfect'. I'm pretty certain they mentioned my shyness in class, but one teacher in particular loves me.
[] Counselor Rec: Excellent. They used my UCAS (British application system) rec, which means it probably was more academically focused than normal, but she definitely made a big deal about my academics.
[] Interview (feel and general location): It was OK. I had it in the office of professor at the local university, and although I didn't feel it went as well as some of my other interviews, my interviewer told me that he thought I'd fit in and do well at Princeton.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul][] State or Country: England
[] School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Private girls school, far from being Eton but with pretty high results in the external UK exams.
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Income Bracket: Lower-middle class
[] Gender: Female
[] Hooks: I guess the Classics thing, and possibly the fact that I'm from a less-represented part of England (I'm from the North)? I don't really know.
[] Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths were probably academics, and I guess my volunteering with kids? Every one of my activities included some factor of 'and then I volunteer to teach kids how to do this'. Weaknesses were probably my shyness and the fact that all of my ECs are on a very local level.
[] Why you think you were accepted or rejected: I really don't know. I had to check the website several times, just to make sure I hadn't imagined it or that they hadn't uploaded the wrong letter by mistake!
[/ul]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congratulations to everyone who got in, and I guess I'll be seeing you in a couple of weeks for the visiting days! I've never visited Princeton before, because of the whole other-side-of-the-Atlantic issue, but it looks amazing and I'm so excited! Good luck to those on the waitlist too. I'm a hardcore lurker, so I know how excited you all are about this place, so congrats to those who got in, and I hope that all those amazing people who didn't get in find somewhere else to love just as much :).
