Official Princeton SCEA 2019 Deferred Students

@ScienceDaddy‌ thanks for making me laugh and stop sulking! Hope to be getting a shoutout on the big album. I’ll help you market to the NJ crowd. Maybe throw some minor shade at the princeton admissions committee?

So is anyone else planning to submit an art supplement? I’m looking to throw in an orchestral composition piece. The problem with those, I think, is that they only help if you’re a borderline admit.

lol at least one of the other kids from my school who applied SCEA to spite me got deferred too. cheers (idk about the second spiteful kid)

You guys are awesome. Truly are.

When I didn’t see that orange tiger, my heart sunk. It truly did.

Being deferred is painful. Knowing that we have 3 1/2 months until we know about RD is even more painful.

But, we’ll get through it.

I feel bad applying to other schools; its like I’m cheating on the woman who I love with all of my heart.

Lol. we are literally making history by being the coolest scea thread group ever

@ScienceDaddy‌ we all love you

Sigh…I really love Princeton, but I’m not going to get my hopes up for RD. I knew it was a long shot. Like I posted in the other thread, I should have applied ED to Penn or Duke.

But best of luck to everyone as we finish first semester…and RD apps…

Actually Im really interested in knowing the stats - last year they only straight up rejected 49 and I wonder if it’s similar this year

Does anyone actually know the chances of deferred students getting in?

If anyone is interested, daily princetonian published an article with stats on this years early admission.

Acceptance: 19.9%
Deferral: 75.8%
165 students were rejected, which is more than three times the number last year.

RD admit rate is around ~5%, and I’ve read elsewhere that deferred applicants typically have a slightly higher chance.

What do deferred students usually write in the follow up letters, other than restating interest in the school and mentioning new accomplishments? I feel obliged to send one maybe in January, but I have no idea what I’m gonna talk about lol.

I don’t know how I’m going to cope with another 4 months of uncertainty :((

When I found out I got deferred, I started crying… but then I listened to some of Beyoncé’s songs and I’m like “ALL THE DEFERRED STUDENTS, ALL THE DEFERRED STUDENTS, NOW PUT YO HANDS UP.”

I surprisingly didn’t even cry when I got my decision, but what bums me out a bit is the fact that 9 people from a school in my area got into Princeton. Not like the expected 1 or 2 that are usually accepted to Princeton from that school, but 9. Their graduating class is like 60-70 people and like 15% of their class got into Princeton. And we live in New Jersey so it’s supposed to be harder to get in from here, so I am just super shocked.

I am absolutely cracking up at every.single.post

Honestly, I’m so happy that this group is so supportive of each other, and this thread makes my deferral a little better.

I’m actually a bit shocked I didn’t get straight up rejected because of my scores. So I’m in a good mood~
WE STILL HAVE HOPE EVERYONE

Guys I’m breaking up
with a dream

To do list:

1)Finish my book (actually possible)
2)Drop mixtape, not just being a producer
3)Make 1 million dollars and subtly donate it my name to Princeton

But you all are awesome and I hope we rock it during RD!
