Official Princeton SCEA 2019 Deferred Students

@ladieth a bunch of my friends also got deferred/rejected from their top choices, so i think i’ll be in good company tomorrow xD we’ll wallow in self-pity together

Physics and Chem test + history Essay. What a great night :))))))))))))))))).

wow u guys are amazing i just came home and sat in the dark and totally blew off homework LOL

i cried for like an hour, ate candy, went for a 40 minute drive with angry music blasting, had fondue for dinner, and took a long walk with my close friend (who also just got deferred)… only after all of that was i able to concentrate on ap physics. the downside is that i’m only getting 4 hours of sleep tonight, so…

Nighty night
'Twas a long day.

what is this “nighty night” you speak of?

ScienceDaddyDoesntSleep

Does everybody have the same deferrel letter, or are there differences?

Where else are you guys applying?

Hoping for good news from the University of Michigan on Friday, and applying to a million other schools!

Does anyone know how late is too late for writing your update/still-my-first-choice email to Princeton? I’m applying to some awards that don’t come out until February and if I win anything I’d like to include it in my email.

I don’t want to spam them with too many emails and annoy them, haha.

@Ostinato1689 I’ve already applied to 4 UCs but I think I will apply to a lot of reaches, haha.

@picozippy I think it would be a good idea to send one e-mail in January saying Princeton is still your #1 choice (if so) and a second closer to the end of February indicating any updates you would like to make them aware of. Two e-mails in a 3-4 month period is not spamming them.

I also want to say to all of you who were deferred…wow. I am actually surprised that so many of you were deferred to the regular round. And based on what you’ve shared about your scores, EC’s and personal attributes I am even more shocked that more of you weren’t offered admission in this round.

Keep your head up…all that hard work will pay off!!

My friend just got accepted into Yale! I’m happy for him but at the same time, wondering why I wasn’t accepted into Princeton :frowning: . My school typically doesn’t send many students who aren’t athletes to big name schools, so I guess my friend’s news is encouraging. Anyone else in the same boat?

Barely got an A in calculus. Princeton dreams still alive

just had my MIT interview, which went really well! though if this deferral has taught me anything, it’s that almost nothing is certain in this whole process (and i may just be rejected from every school i apply to). but i guess i shouldn’t lose faith… who knows, maybe the admissions officers will decide to accept a bunch of us in the regular round! :)

Decided to add Johns Hopkins to my college list at the last minute, we’ll see if i have a shot there

@hopefulperson i’m applying to hopkins, too! if i’d been accepted, i’d probably just apply to harvard and yale… but now that i’m paranoid about not getting in, i’m applying to 12 more schools xD

Ugh it’s so hard trying to stay positive hearing everyone congratulating the girl who got in from my school :frowning:
When I told my teachers they got so angry that she got in and I didn’t lol i’ve never heard my chem teacher swear before
Sigh now I have to apply to 10 more schools… maybe Stanford will want me lol

@ladieth that really sucks :frowning: i go to a really small public school that usually doesn’t have anyone get in anywhere good EA/ED, and this year is no exception, so at least i don’t have to deal with that. sadly enough, almost all of my friends from school also got deferred/rejected :(

I haven’t even told my teachers yet and but I know that one girl that goes to my school got into Stanford and another guy got into Yale and I’m just yeah, class of 2015 disappointment. Granted the girl that got into Stanford is a major athlete and the guy who got into Yale is an actor, so I guess they had a lot more going for them than I have…

And the stupid thing is that I actually probably had my best chance with the Princeton EA because they have a nearly 20% acceptance rate which is a lot compared to the normal 8% acceptance for most elite schools and now I’ve pretty much lost all faith that I’ll actually get into one of them at all.

yeah after seeing that this year’s is one of the highest SCEA acceptance rates in recent years (basically 20%) and I still managed to get deferred I’ve basically given up any HYPS hope

one girl in my school got into MIT EA but everyone else who did ED/EA to Ivies/Ivy-level schools or did Questbridge got rejected or deferred

Does anyone know the stats for people who got deferred EA getting accepted in the RD round?
