I’m taking the ACT w/writing definitely in October, but I was going to do the SAT in November. Because my mom is going to sign me up with a tutor soon and I wanted to do extensive work so I could really raise my score a lot. GA2012MOM, are you saying I should apply to the National College Match application thing? I did read that you can submit them without having the actual score but just putting when you were going to test an leave that blank, but I would rather have the score on there, LOL. Is there a way to apply only to regular decision without submitting an application for the National College Match due in September?

I’m pretty sure you can’t or won’t be chosen as a finalist if you don’t put ANY scores down. Even if you don’t want to do the match and only have your app forwarded for RD, don’t you want to make finalist status? All your application fees are waived if you are finalist, most are not if a non-finalist. Only by taking a September test (if one is available) will you be able to use that score for QB to determine if you make finalist. The Oct. or Nov. scores can certainly be used for individual schools during RD.

There is no SAT test date for September; there is an ACT test in September, but I’m unsure if it’s too late to register for it.

I just checked, and it is too late to sign up for Sept. ACT.

I did take an SAT back in June, but it was no good. That test score is all I have…

If that’s what I had to work with then I would try to work hard to have polished essays and short answers, as well as try to get excellent recommendations (assuming your test scores are not competitive). I would work with my teachers and counselors so that I get the best representation that I can possibly receive.

With the Questbridge application, you bring more to the table than numbers and a two-dimensional profile. You can bring it light and personality for your benefit through writing and recommendations. Try your best!

But what if I only wanted to apply to the regular decision college match? Yes, I know that if you are a finalist or whatever for the national college match then your fees are waived, yadda yadda, but because I only have one horrible test score I’m not sure if I have the slightest chance of becoming one. What is the deadline for the regular decision college match?

The QB app must be submitted by 9/30 whether you are doing the Match or RD.

OK thank you that’s what I wanted to know!! So when you get deferred to regular decision, can I update my application with test scores and stuff then?

Yes…

Uh, OK…

Hey i wanted to know if someone on this thread could kindly tell me their Academic Status such as GPA,SAT I or II, EC’s, AP’s and whatever else may have helped you get into the college of your choice that QB matched you with. If you can answer this it would be a big help, Thank You

^you’re right, that would be helpful.

On the contrary, numbers don’t tell the whole story. Different schools use different scales for GPA.

Your letters of recommendation and personal statements complete the package, allowing you to explain yourself and what makes you, you.

I was surprised to hear from Brown U that some people said they got in because of “so and so accomplishment.” In response, an admissions representative would interject, replying “No. I remember you. You were accepted in spite of that.”

If you want to look at the universities avg. SAT scores, GPA, etc. then you may wish to search on their websites or the CollegeBoard website.

The student profile of a Questbridge finalist can be found here: http://www.questbridge.org/students/profiles_class2014/finalist.stats.html

The student profile of a finalist who was matched can be found here: http://www.questbridge.org/students/profiles_class2014/match.stats.html

You should do yourselves a favor and read the Questbridge website. The vast majority of your questions can be answered by skimming their FAQ. If it’s something personal or that you think isn’t addressed there you can E-mail them also. Nonetheless, I’m happy to help.

^You seem to know a lot about QuestBridge, were you matched?

I have (and I’m betting WhartonDreams has too) read the entire QuetBridge FAQ and other info, but its info is somewhat limited and not always specific. How could it hurt to know where we fit in against the other applicants? Of course we know that those numbers don’t determine a ton, but I don’t see what’s wrong with getting a bigger picture. Though of course, thanks for being happy to help :)

Actually, I’m going to be applying this year too When you “fit in against other applicants” and their numbers you paint yourself an incomplete picture.

With the averages on the QB website, you should be able to gauge yourself. Since they’re only posting numbers (alongside breaking down race and income) the general rule would be this: the higher the better.

There’s far more to it than stats. I’ve seen really high stats kids not get matched and some really high stats kids get matched. I’ve read posts from kids who say they obviously weren’t picked for their stats. I think the best thing for all of you to do is to put together an application that reveals who you are as a person.

The other best thing for all of you to do is to have a backup financial safety school. Don’t count on being accepted to a QB partner. Figure out a financially feasible plan to go to a school you know you will be accepted at. Is there a community college nearby? Is there an early application deadline in order to apply for scholarships at your state university?

Yup @Psychicsnut i have read through all of QB’s FAQ lol but its still left me with questions =P. Thnaks everyone for the help…any others?

and QB has the stats and it says most students had a 1200+ do you thing they mean CR+Math only? because it seems unlikely for students to get in with a 1200 out of 2400 on SAT’s…

forget that last post it clearly says it there silly me =P lmao
