I was just ranking on order of prestige but when I did more research, after the deadline to re-arrange the order of your schools, I found that Columbia was my first choice. Thanks for your reply, though. :)

Five more days until I find out I haven’t been matched and I can finally freely apply regular decision to places. I just want to be released from this obligation more than much else.

Question–can you get in trouble for applying RD to other places? Because I’ve already applied to two other schools…and I’ve been admitted into one of them, haha (but it’s not binding or anything).

I believe not… but if you are matched to a binding school, you must withdraw all other applications. Some schools you have to have applied to by the time match decisions come out (UC / CSU, for example)

@Nonexistent

Applying RD is fine. You just can’t apply EA or ED to anywhere while the College Match process is still going on.

@collegedude323 - Woah! I think you might be screwed :\ You definitely should have gotten an email from UPenn (and Princeton, too, though I’m not sure if you’re asking about them, as well) like three weeks ago. I ranked both schools (Penn and Princeton) and received a login link to the PennPortal and PFAS, respectively, a while ago. They were due somewhere around the 13th (17th?) haha idr, sorry.

Not to sound critical, but why haven’t you called the schools’ Financial Aid Offices? We find out in 5 days if we’ve been matched… I think you actually might be out of the running, but I suppose it couldn’t hurt to call now? Well, Monday, since I don’t think they’re open on weekends. :(

@BlueBronze - You could not be lazy and actually go look at the QB website. All the statistics are there.

@flysaex - Thank God! LOL I unthinkingly submitted the Common App to JHU and then realized, “Crap! I’m kinda-sorta doing ED with QB!” Definitely put my mind at ease. :D

Yeah Questbridge is a bit strict about their policies regarding other schools and applications. You’re not supposed to apply elsewhere while you’re going through the National college match portion, but I do think they only have something against EA/ED applications. RD should be fine since the implication is that it’ll be reviewed in 2011 and there’s no reason to penalize you for just getting your work done early.

On a happy note I get a new computer (this one’s 7 years old… yeah) delivered on the same day that Questbridge releases their results. I supposed setting it up and having fun with it is a good way to take my mind off the results.

hey guys. here waiting patiently for Dec. 1st. Does anyone know how we get our notifications? is it through email? and at what time do we get them? ive been wondering.

guezmike, if you are matched you typically get a phone call from either a QB rep or somebody from the match school. D got her phone call around 5:00 (eastern time) from a QB rep, followed by an email a couple of hours later. Everybody gets an email notifying you one way or another.

Actually, looking through the thread from last year, it wasn’t ‘typical’ that you get a phone call. It seems that some schools in particular like to give phone calls ahead of time, etc., but Match recipients aren’t all normally given phone calls.

^
I’m sure it changes year to year, but every year there are a few that get a phone call from the school itself prior to the match date, however most match recipients find out through a phone call on the day of the match.

That… is kind of scary. The phone at my house is pretty much for show… don’t usually bother to pick up. Oh well, there’s always e-mail.

Ah! so itll come in the afternoon. Alright, thats cool. Wow how nerve wrecking. especially knowing that only 7 people were matched to MIT last year. Praying that im one of those this year

just time will tell! Good luck to you all!!!
oh and hope you had a happy holiday :)

thanks guezmike! Happy former holiday to you too.

This is really late, but how can I check if Princeton, Yale, and Stanford have recieved my financial aid information/documents? Would they have called in mid-November to notify me if they were missing? Princeton’s online application checker does not seem to include their finaid form…

Stanford told me that they would email if they were missing anything. Not sure about Princeton or Yale.

^ When Yale emailed us with our Yale ID, they said do not bother trying to track your applications since we are applying through Questbridge, and Princeton should’ve sent you an email about tracking your profile around the same time they emailed us the Princeton financial aid form.

Btw, Did you get an email from Stanford saying that? I never did

Has anyone gone on the commonapp to start their regular decision stuff? Maybe I’m stupid, but I had no idea that commonapp wouldn’t let me change anything after I sumbitted it to the QB schools. I have a ton of stuff I have to add now, but my application is stuck the way it was.

Help!

yeah same i can’t even change my common app essay :/

Common app is ridiculous! i cant even add new scores or anything! -___-

@collegedude323- no I had called stanford’s admissions office to ask.

Uh nevermind I figured it out. :). I’m guessing though that if we aren’t accepted to our QB schools, the commonapp we already sent gets put into RD and we can’t submit a changed app for RD? For example I can’t change the commonapp I sent to stanford for QB?
